'03, has been appointed assistant in the department of botany. For the past two or three years Mr. Miles has devoted the greater part of his attention to the study of botany, in which he is hp-ciali.lng. G V. Dudley, '02, who has been in the employ of the Northwestern Railway company during the summer, was in the city Saturday, to see the football game. Mr. Dudley Is now principal of the Dewitt schools. The new course in general geology, designed especially for teachers In the secondary schools. Is very popular. About twenty teachers attended the lecture Saturday, and quite a number o( others have, signified their intention of taking the course. Hlltner of the chem istry department has returned from California, where he has been engaged during the past summer In Btudying the practical side of sugar making.
