John h. Hershey, '05, has accepted a
position in the civil engineering de
partment of the B. & M. railroad at
Omaha for the coming year.

been doing special botany work during
the summer, is ausistant In the botan
ical laboratory.

be in school thts semester.
Arthur Edgren. flon of ex-Dean Ed
gren, whose home is now in Stockholm,
Sweden, has returned to Lincoln and
entered the academy preparatory to
the university. He prefers American
life to that of Europe.
E. A. Follmer, O. H. Mlckle and Fred
C. FoBter were initiated Into Alpha
Tau Omega on Wednesday evening.
The ceremony was followed by an In
formal spread.
The domestic science students are
working hard. It Won't be long before
hand-outs can be had.
Dr. Clapp, of Keokuk, la., the new
physical director, whose recent illness
has detained him from his work here,
is Improving and will be on hand about
October 1. 1. P. Hewitt and W. G.
Hiltner, captain and manager of the
basket-hall team, will hare charge of
the basket-ball class until Dr. Clapp
arrives.
D. L. Thornbury, '02, has a position
as Instructor in the high school at
Aberdeen, 9. D.
W R. Sampson. '00, has replstered in
the law department. During the past
year he was principle of the schools
at Halgler.
Arthur Marsh, of Blair, has
plpdged to Alpha Tau Omega.

Harry Garrett, '02, is at present su
perintendent of the schools at Roca.
Frank Dotoson, one of the third-year
civil engineers, was registered last Fri
day, but will not be able to Btart in
school for a month at least, as he has
entered Into a portion of the paving
contract with Robert Malone and the
city for repaving East O street.
Dr. Gordon, principal of the Lincoln
city schools, carries work as Instructor
in the geology department of the uni
versity. Mr. Gordon has a rich repu
tation as a scholar and has traveled
much, both abroad and in the United
States, working on geological surveys,
teaching and studying.
