given to the students for presentation
of their semester papers.
Miss Bouton will speak to young

Mr. Little, an editor of a western
paper and formerly a Btudent at the
university, called on a number of stu
dent frlendB, while in town this week.
In the first meeting a banquet com
mittee made a report favorable to hav
ing one during commencement week.
It was decided not to have a banquet.
The second meeting was called to re
consider the action, but nothing was
ddne.

The Y. W. C. A. cabinet met Tues
day evening. All but two of the girls
were present. The reports of the com
mittees were read. That of the mis
sionary committee was especially good,
both In form and contents. The reg
ularity with which bulletins for the
Sunday meetings have appeared, and
the Improved appearance of the rooms
were both commented upon. The
finance committee reported one hun
dred and fifty-eight dollars on hand.
The matter of Geneva delegates was
next mentioned. It was decided to
send three girls, the association pay
ing half of their expenses, also half
of the expenses. of the. secretary. The
report of the advisory board meeting
was given and their recommendation
that Miss Weldy be asked to retain
her position as general secretary for
next year waB discussed. The motion
to retain her next year was passed
unanimously.
Captain Smoke held a meeting last
night with the officers of the battalion
in which the minor details regarulng
encampment were discussed.
.1. S. Ellis is the author of a story
which appears in the April number
of the Western College magazine. Mr.
Ellis Is a member of Mr. Shedd's short
story class, for which the story was
written some time ago.
The Y. M. C. A. cabinet held a busi
ness meeting in the rooms last night
and matters of importance were taken
up which will materialize at some fu
ture date.
The Senior Lawyers held two busi
ness meetings yesterday afternoon.
However, nothing was accomplished at
either, because of the extreme amount
of parlimentary law and debating.
The class In physics IV. enjoyed an
examination Tuesday on electricity.
Those who passed their examination
will not be tested on electricity In the
rmal examination at the close of the
year.
Rev. Luther P. Ludden addressed the
Btudents at convocation yesterday
morning on "Individuality." He im
pressed upon the students the neces
sity of always cultivating independence
of thought and action which are al
