PHI KAPPA PSI PARTY.
Phi Kappa Psi fraternity gave its
fifth annual spring party at the Lin
coln last Friday night, about one hun
dred young people participating. At
about 10:30 the doors of the ordinary
were thrown open to the guests and
a course luncheon was served the re
mainder of the evening. The decora
tions for the occasion had been made
with the greatest care and were tasty
indeed. The university and fraternity
colore predominated. A large rectan
gle of Phi Kappa Psl flags hung in the
center of the rotuiiiM. From this
streamed twelve strings of wisteria,
covered with (lowers and the fraternity
colors, to the twelve columns surround
ing the rotunda. The ballustrade was
beautifully banked with flowers of va
rious kinds. The parlor was likewise
tastily decorated and the light bulbs
shaded in chrysanthemum effects.
Scarlet and cream decorated the ordi
nary while the table was covered with
scarlet and cream carnations, backed
by strings of smilax. Potted plants
filled all the windows, giving the rooms
a ery garden-like effect. The party
was chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. I. S.
P. Weeks.
COMMITTEEMEN'S FEED.
The Y. M. C. A. held a committee
men's "t(ed" Saturday night at the as
sociation looms at (5 o'clock, which was
attended by about sixty men. This was
the first event of the kind since the
opening of the new association year
and was the work of the new entertain
ment committee. The meal set before
the young men was substantial besides
being well served and complete In
every way. Three long tables were
arranged in the outer room
The object mainly of the supper was
to get the men together for better ac
quaintance and to get a better concep
tion of the work which has been laid
out to be accomplished during the com
ing year Previous to the luncheon
ea li committee had held a meeting
and had decided ery minutely on the
line of action and the policy which
they are to follow during the year.
The matter of finance was taken up
for onsideration and it was announced
by Mr. Phillips, the treasurer, that $800
would have to be raised to cover ex
penses for the year. The matter was
taken up then and in a few minutes
an amount of something over $180 was
subscribed among the men. A picture
by flashlight was taken before the as
sembled guests left.
STATE RECORD BROKEN.
In the -presence of an unusually large
and enthusiastic crowd of spectators
the university athletes last Saturday
took part In one of the- njost success
ful preliminary contests that has been
held for some time. The day was
ideal and contestants plentiful, thus
making the jontest an exceedingly in
teresting one. Tho successful athletes
In this eontest will appear in the teams
which take part in the intercollegiate
and Kansas meets which will he held
next month.
