The editorial In Wedneftday'B Ihbuc
of the NcbraBkan In which the playing
of the band was referred to has appa
rently been mlHlntcrpreted by Borne of
the memberB of the band. There waa
no Intention of crltlclBlng any of the
members of the band, for It 1b well
known that they are doing very well
(onslderlng the equipments and the
music with which they are provided.
The Idea intended to convey by the
editorial was that too little attention
was paid to marchcB and military mu
hIc, with the natural consequence that
the band on dresB parade Is not what
It is in the concert hall. As a concert
band It Is undoubtedly the best that
the university has ever had. Yet the
presence of the members of the band
on the bleachers watching the band in
stead of being with it is evidence of
the fact that the band is not a strictly
military band.

A CORRECHON.
Editor Dally Nebraskan: The fact
that Mr. Turrell was appointed to a
fellowship In Germanics at Columbia
university has led you to say that he
was from the department of German.
This Ib only partially true, his major
in his graduate work being in the Ro
mance languages, with Dr. Edgren
Mr. Turrell took his Germanics as an
undergraduate and only in part for his
bpcoihI degree. Very truly yours,
LAURENCE KOSSU3R.
