AN OLD RELIC.
A. E. Sheldon returned yesterday
from a trip to Niobrara, where he went
for the historical society. He brought
back with him various photographs of
historical scenes around Niobrara,
which is a country particularly rich In
historical relics. He also procured for
the Nebraska historical exhibit at the
St. Louis exposition an eight-pound
cannon winch was abandoned by H. G.
Harney in 1M0, and was subsequently
used at the Ponca Indian agency in
fighting the Sioux Indians. It is now
the property of William La Mont, the
oldest stater at Niobrara. Mr. bhel
don also brought back numerous In
dian relics and photographs taken by
himself of the junction of the Nio
brara and Missouri rivers, where the
Lewis and Clark expedition landed in
1804.
