Dr. Angell In a recent article dis cusses tho question of tlio aa visibility of having graduate o Ji.clies in football, lie s'iys: Last semester we had alumni acting in a semi-olllclal capacity as graduate coaches and It seems to the writer that tho results aro, in the main, encouraging. Thero lias been less friction between team and coaches than m former years, the coaches having won the respect and liking of tho men. and in addition have been tho much needed medium for tho interaction of faculty and student opinion. Had they been somewhat more stringent in the matter of discipline, it would have been bettor. What Walter Camp charitably termed tho " indent n dence" of some of the men was a stumt llngblock In the way of coac hesTzIt s not i)robablethat the sam", or even different', coaches, would err again In the direction of too great leniency. But, takenjis a whole, the experiment with graduate coaches seems to show that alumni and undergraduates can work har moniously and advatageously to gether, "andthere isno ""reason- to believe that, the relation might not be more beneliclal if It were con tUious and wlthoutjnoney and with out price."
