PREPARE FOR KANSAS
Team Getting Into Shapo For the
Game With the Jayhawkors.
Sophomores Tie the
High School.
Tlio practlco last night was not
quite up to the usual standard on all
points. While It was a good steady
woric-out, It lacked the snap and vig
or usually seen on Nebraska field.
The scrubs put up a fine game, both
on offensive and defensive They
went through the 'Varsity time and
again for their distance.
Moloney filled Kingsbury's place at
guard. Yos8 took Stringer's position
at tackle and both sets of backs were
played. The work was not steady
but rather ragged. At times the
'Varsity would lino up and put the
ball in play with the old time vim
and bv steady lino bucks and end
runs push the pig skin down nearly to
the goal line then Ipse it on a fum
ble or a miBplay.

mores played a game with the high
school team in which neither side
scored. It was a very pretty exhibi
tion of football, however, and the
teams are very evenly matched. Tho
high school boys wero a little better
on the defensive play, they being
quicker And mire Of their jplays.

center, ne thought lie had scoured
tho ball on a rumble and; rushed
down the field lor a touch down.

Fifteen sergeants'and Jive lleuton
ants absented themselves from drill
last night as a result of the dissatis
faction that is rampant among tho
recont appointees ovor, the way the
o Mires in the battalion were dis
tributed. Of the twenty sergoants In tho
battalion only fivo woro In their
places. But three lieutenants put In
appearance. Drill wont on. however,
in the old way as though nothing out
of tho ordinary had happened. It is
said that cho absentees will stay
away from drill until some satisfac
tory adjustment of the difficulty Is
made.
One of the cadets said last night
that the dissatisfaction was general
and extended ta all exceut very few.
Ho said that tho men did not base
their action on personal grounds but
had tako It because they believed
that an lnjustlco had been done to a

This, they say. ho refused to do.
They then took matters Into their

called by tho president for Wednesday
afternoon.
Tho regulars got together yesterday
aftornoon and choso a board.
The othor faction which is led by
P. B. Weaver and M. J. Cronin held
t oir meeting last night. W. n.
O'oonnell was chairman and M.
J. Cronin scorotary.
The first move was to declare tho
election of Hlgglns and Hoartt void,
on tho gruund that tho motion to
elect officers wob interrupted by tho
adjournment at tho last meeting and
according to tho ruling of tno presi
dent tho motion could not bo divid
ed. Than tho mooting proceeded to
elect tho board. These officers wero
unanimously chosen editor-in-chief.
