plant whose top assumes a globular
figure and In autumn is detached and
iolled over the plains by the wind,
scattering Its seed. The name is giv
en to several such plants In the west
ern United States. Species so called
are Amarantus alba and A. blitoldes.

tana), the bug weed Corlspermum hys
Bopfollum and the . winged pigweed
Cycloloma platyphylla. Also called
rolling-weed. The list of plants hav
ing the habit of rounding up their
ste, -.and branches so as to form a
nearly spherical plant body which at
the end of the season breaks away at
the root thus forming a tumble-weed,
must be increased by adding the
pig-weed Amer Nat. XXI. 929.
