Methodist Episcopal church will beheld

The secret orders of Columbus have
fixed Sunday, June 10 as Memorial day.
The exercises will be held at the Colum
bus cemetery at -3 o'clock, Rev. DeWolf
making the address. The members are
requested -lo assemble at K. of P. hall at
2:30 o'clock in the afternoon to march
in a1 body to the cemetery: The lodges

Joe Carter and Jas. Greig of St. Ed
ward, were in Columbus last' Thursday
returning from Chicago where they in
company with Charlie Rapp, Victor
Reed and ' Ben Barnics, had taken a
train load of cattle. Mr. Carter made a
short visit at bis borne in Illinois and
Mr. Greig spent a fewtdays in Michigan
vkitingr relatives. Mr. Carter did not
learn until he reached' Columbus thai
bis barn had'been burned down in his
absence. He said that their train made
the trip from Omaha to Chicago in
about twenty-four hours, getting their
cattle to market in good condition.
Several Columbas1 r men and women
whor ;attended entertainments at the
North Opera house during the past two
weeks made complaint to the Journal
about the crowd of "boys and youngmen
who line up on the walk outside the'
door and "rubber" at the people as they
pass, 'often making insulting remarks
and sometimes blowing cigarette smoke
in the faces of ladies The Journal rec
ords these complaints that they may. be
-referred to the manager of the opera

treaty to "move on" from the lips ot
Chief Scfaack would remove.tbe cause of
the complaint.
Judge Hensley is growing in popu
larity as al holidayorator. He delivered

has been engaged to deliver the Foarth
