Joe Carter and Jas. Greig of St. Ed ward, were in Columbus last' Thursday returning from Chicago where they in company with Charlie Rapp, Victor Reed and ' Ben Barnics, had taken a train load of cattle. Mr. Carter made a short visit at bis borne in Illinois and Mr. Greig spent a fewtdays in Michigan vkitingr relatives. Mr. Carter did not learn until he reached' Columbus thai bis barn had'been burned down in his absence. He said that their train made the trip from Omaha to Chicago in about twenty-four hours, getting their cattle to market in good condition.
