Ludwig, the 18-year-old son of Mr.. and Mrs. William Plath, died Sunday evening at 530 at the family residence in the western part of town, after a long illness, of dropsy. He had been ailing for more than a year, and for a while it was thought that his trouble was rheu matism, but positive symptoms of drop sy developed later. Mr. Plath is a brother of Leopold and Gus Plath of thia city, and only removed here from Humphrey this spring. His one object in moving was that his son might have the best medical attendance possible. The funeral service was held Tuesday at the Methodist church, at 10 o'clock, Rev. Mickel preaching the sermon from Job xix 25 to 27, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery here. The be reaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in their dark hour of bereavement. Rev. and Mrs. Samuel Goodale ac cepted the invitation of the Mu chapter at Minneapolis of Mr. Goodale society, the Psi U, to attend the Sixty-fifth an nual banquet, all their expenses being paid, from the time they left their home here until their return, and there was no stint in the entertainment of the aged guests, either aa to hotel fare or other wise. There were representatives from every direction, Judge Keyser of Omaha presiding at the banquet, at which there were a hundred guests. Mr. Goodale had the place of honor beside the pre siding officer, and made a speech appro priate to the occasion, which was highly appreciated by those present. Other speeches were made, the set oration of the occasion being by the president of the Wisconsin state university on Spain. Mr. Goodale met a classmate that he had not seen since 1836, CoL Martindale of Des Moines.
