"To the voters of Butler county." Whereas, a dodger under the above
caption is being circulated throughout the county by the satellites of the
U. P. R. R Co. The attention of thevoters of the countv is called to the
following:

B. F. Rolph, Clerk of Butler county, Neb., being first duly sworn on
oath says: That on the 2nd day of June, 1879, H. M. Montgomery. Station
Agent at David City, of the 0 & R. V. R. R. company j called at his office
and procured the Statistics contained in the dodger under the above caption.

You are asked to notice who are circulating the false statements; ask
why the same was not made in time to allow you to inform yourselves con
cerning the truth of the statements. The conclusions in said statements are
false, and intended to mislead you.
fcMany farmers" usually have courage enough to put their names to their
letters, but sucii sneaks who dare not face a public meeting of their own
making are glad to hide behind the respectable name of ''farmer" to hide
their devilment. A nice "farmer" II. C. Newman would make, eh? or an
other conspirator Horrible II, D. Perkey, or S. S Reynolds. They are the
"many farmers" who are now trying to rob the real farmers of Butler countv
of a free and fair election. There may be others, but when we show the
people that the paid hirelings of the U, P. railroad arc- doing the dirty
work of Jay Gould, we hate to associate the name of a neighbor with them.
He might rep?nl;,they can'tr- -The-indignation of our people misjht be more
than the scoundrels bargain for but as -their power is not in proportion to
their wickedness, their defeat at the poljg&hould be sufficient punishment.
