almost unanimous expres sion of disapproval enough to swing that state into his column this fall Ex Seuator David B Hill of Now York says that Roosevelt is a joke in tho Empire state Being elected govouor of Now York over Augustus Van Wyck of ice trust fame was quite a joko and tho republican mirth was sincere but how Mr Hill and other democrats havo been able to see tho point is not understood Texus democrats are opposed to any plank iu tho democratio platform pro testing against the sending of ships and troopsto China to protect American lives No party lias ever yet had tho presumption to suggest tho abandon ment of our citizens iu foreign countries when they needed tho protection of Old Glory Most of the towns throughout tho state are represented by strong and John S Uobiusou was renominated for congress by tho fusion forces on Wednesday Well The Pioneer will bo one of the many that will proceed to show tho pooplo that ho is slippery and untrustworthy without iutluonce and unable to do this great district one bit of good There is another John that will muko him squirm Niobrara Pioneer The fusion editor aro racking their brains for something mean to say about Onus II Dietrich tho republican noun ueo for governor but their endeavors appear to bo pretty near useless He seems to possess about all tho qualities that men most ndmire and it is exceed ingly dillioult to discredit him iu the eyes of the voters That he will bo tho noxt governor is growing more and certain every day John O Kelly of tho Sioux CityJTrib uuo is too much of a gold democrat to support Bryau and his fallacies and has tnoroforo rotlrod from the editorial n uuogement of his paper J O Wol liver will succeed him and as the latter is now at Kausas City drawing inspira tion it may be expected that tho Trib uuo will at least during tljis campaign bo as rubidly Bryauocratio as anyone could desire This is ouo way to change the policy of a paper and prevent the editor suffering from indigestion because of too much crow The St Louis Globe Deuiocratlstates that Missouri is uot likely to be num bered with tho solid south this year in this language It is said and no doubt with truth that tho omission of 10 to 1 iu tho Kansas Oity platform would cost the democrats the electoral vote of Missouri But the republicans propose to reach for tho state regardless of the platform of the calamity party And it is just about as certain that men tion of 10 to 1 will again cost the party any hope of carrying New York and other eastern states Iu face of these rumors it is possible that Bryan and his supporters heartily wish that thev had never heard of the ratio THK NORFOLK NRWS THURSDAY JULY 5 1900 0 HN SACRIFICE SUIT SALE Womens Tailored Suits 70 Select Stylish yot Not a suit that
