tribution which had boon assigned to
him by tho president of tho association
Tho paper was very good and drow

mombors Tho statistics and informa

This mornings session was again held
in tho auditorium and prosided over by
President Shiok
Tho legislative committco took up a
largo sharo of tho timo in prosouting
its annual roport This committee is
composed of Messrs llaguo of Mindon
Wilson of Kearnoy and Ololand of Fro
mout
Tho roport wns road by Chairman
Hague and was of considerable length
It reviewed what had been douo in tho
way of legislative enactments in favor
of tho firemen and their work
Tho fact was recitod that tho Weaver
law had boon declared unconstitutional
and that therefore tho law in regard to
tho 5 tax against insuranco companies
was still in force aud ellect
It presented in detail tho work of tho
committco boforo tho legislature what
had been accomplished and what yot
remained to be douo
After tho reading of tho paper tho
committco answered tho questions that
woro asked iu reference to their work
and the roport was qui to generally dis
cussed
The committco on tho matter reported
but ono death iu tho association during
tho past year it being that of 0 E
Beaver of who died but a few
days ago after an illness lasting about a
year His wifo was left in quite poor
circumstances aud a committee was se
lected to triko up a collection for her
benefit Tho result wns that about 2
wns collected aud this amount will un
doubtedly bo increased by additional
contributions
Tho roport of the committeo on con
stitution and rules next submitted their
report which was adopted The report
recommended several changes and also
some changes in regard to tourunniont
rules
The convention then adjourned until
1 JJ0 this afternoon
The convention was called together
by music from tho baud and aftor moot
ing at tho auditorium an adjournment
was taken to tho corner of Fourth and
Main streets where a platform had been
arranged for tho purpose of taking tho
pictures of tho members
A line of march was then formed
with tho baud in tho lead Nearly all
the visiting delegates wero in lino and
tho parade was closed with membors of
tho Norfolk department aud their ap
paratus
Tho lino of march was west on Main
thou countermarched cast thon back to
Fourth and to tho convention hall
While tho parado lastod the sea
lion whistlo aud tho firo boll joined
in an alarm which was a falso ono and
tho department made no run
Tho business of tho association will
bo practically finished this after
noon and tho evening will bo dovoted to
amusements At 8 oclock tho Pringlo
company will present in tho auditorium
