John O I lciyH Trouble
Tho Medina Ohio Gazette of recout
date contains the following article con
cerning the domestic troubles of John
O Licey who it will be remembered
left this place two years ago and went
to Mexico After being there a short
time he was taken sick and returned to
his old home in Ohio The rest of the
story is told by the Gazette ns follows
On Tuesday John O Licey of River
Styx placed on file with the county
clerk through his attorneys Maper and
Licey papers asking for 110000 to pay
for his damaged affections The defend
ant in the case is George Kerr The
plaintiff says that on July 23 1897 he
was married to Dora Nisonger In Ne
braska and after a wedding trip to Mex
co and Central America they Battled
down to the peaceful enjoyment of
housekeeping at River Styx On Aug 1
1898 the plaintiff enlisted as an immune
in the hospital corps of the regular army
and remained in the service till March 1
1899
The petition states that during the
time of his service Kerr took advantage
of the plaintiffs absence and did alien
ate her love and affection and that after
his return home Kerr and Mrs Licey
continued to meet in secluded places
and carry on their amours The first of
this month Kerr induced the plaintiffs
wife to desert him and go to Indiana
whither he would follow her and marry
her as soon as possible and she relying
on his promises tho petitiou states
has gone to Indiaua and now resides
there
During their married life prior to
his return from the army Licey and
his wife had lived in perfect felicity and
she had at all times conducted herself as
a loyal wife should Since his return
however the domestic heaven was
clouded and sho had steadily refused to
yield to her husbands earnest solicita
tions to forsake her illegal love for Kerr
In view of his blighted affections and
the loss of her assistance nud companion
ship the plaintiff prays for damages for
the sum of 10000 and interest thereon
from the renditiou of judgement at legal
rates He also wants the defendant to
bear the costs of this nctiou

The parade appeared nt 12 oclock

was viewed by a vast crowd of people
tho day being most propitious for a large
turnout of country folks nnd those from
neighboring villages The pageant wns

cages dens of wild animals elephants

After the parade Captain Sauteay the

carried with the show for this especial
purpose He landed on a net below A
big crowd saw tho great feat and were
most favorably impressed with its stu
peudousuess
In the menagerie was Rajah the king
of all animals the biggest elephant ever
seen here Others may be called big
but this is undoubtedly the king of
brutes Many other strange unimals
from all parts of the world were dis
played and a big herd of Shetland ponies
was an attractive feature especially for
the children who were equally charmed
by the cage of monkeys
In the circus proper many new nnd
novel acts were performed in which ex
perienced actors and intelligent animals
took part The features aud novelties
were all good One of tho leading aud
most wouderful acts was Miss Edna
the only lady somersault rider She has
the reputation of being the most daring
and most dashing lady equestrienne in
the world and actually turns a complete
somersault on the bare back of a run
ning horse The boxing kangaroo
Tom had three rounds with his
trainer and proved very amusing
The show waB attended by big
crowds aud the evening performance
