Train Kills Pearl Beymer.
Clearwater , Nob. , Oct. M. Special
to The News : I'oarloy lloymer of Nor
folk , aged 22 , a Northwestern railroad
brakeinaii , was killed hero at an early
hour today. Ills body was horribly
cut to pieces. Tlio victim of the acci
dent was the son of Mrs. .1. A. Nix ,
and a brother of Howard Uoymor of
Norfolk who , as a brakeman , was run
over In the yards at West Point llvo
years ago and lost a log as a result.
I'oarloy lieymcr was bond hrakomaii
on freight train No. I8 ! , castbonnd ,
which passed through Clearwater be
tween ! and 5 o'clock tills morning.
The train slowed up bore and noymer
got off to got orders. Ho gave the
engineer the "high ball , " a signal to
go ahead , and started to climb hack
on the train. It was dark and no more
was thought of Beymer until the train
reached Nellgh , when he was found to
be missing.
Engine Backs Up , Body Found.
The engine backed up and found
the remains , terribly mangled , at a
switch in the Clearwater freight yards.
The body had apparently boon dragged
200 or UOO foot. The head lay along :
the side of the track , severed from the
body. A leg was cut off , as wore the
arms.
Whether rieymcr was killed by the
freight or Just stunned by that train
and killed by the morning passenger ,
which followed a few minutes after
ward , was a question that did not seem
to ho clearly answered early today.
Ono theory was that ho missed his
footing and was dragged until ho
reached the switch , near which the
main part of thu body was found. An
other was that ho might have boon
stunned by the freight and killed later
by the passenger.
The train was running slow at the
time of the accident. Conductor Bren-
nan was in charge of the train.
The coroner arrived from Nollgh
this morning in n ajiocial train.
