To Import Forty Dagoes.
DecmiBQ it is impossible for the
Kntz-Cniig company to secure sulll-
cient and suitable men for the work on
the Norfolk avenue paving , forty
Italians have been imported from
Omaha and will commence work to
morrow morning. The Italians leave
Omaha today and are expected in the
city this evening. When asked why
he could not get the laborers in Norfolk -
! folk Samuel Kline , foreman of the pav
ing , declared the majority of the labor
ers employed hero wore either men
over 43 years old or boys who only
cared to work a few days to earn
enough money to gamble with.
"We have tried hard to get the men
hero , but It is impossible. Wo have n
policy of employing all the labor in
the town in which wo are working ,
but it has proved a failure here , " said
Mr. Kline.
The steam engine and grading out-
lit arrived in the city from Hattlo
Creek Sunday , but owing to the weath
er conditions could not bo started
working until Wednesday , when the
dirt will be taken from Norfolk avenue
In great quantities.

Mrs. Joseph Krntko has secured u

endeavor to obtain the release of her
husband , who Is now conllned In the
county jail awaiting trial by the dis
trict court. Justice Hlsoley refused to
approve the bond , although ho de
clares the bond Is perfectly good and
can be acted upon after the county
sheriff has put his approval upon it.
Mrs. Kratke some time ago charged
her husband with cruelty , brutality
and threatening to do great bodily
harm. Kratke was bound over to the
district court after declaring he would
kill the judge if he put him In jail.
For a Game at Neligh.
Nellgh , Nob. , Oct. 4. Special to The
S'ews : The baseball inns of this city

The Friend Coursing Meet.
Friend , Neb. , Oct. G. The racing in
