Fisher - or telegraphed the Omaha house to day , stating that he had sweated Bow- era for two hours and was unable to ascertain why the man went away. At the end of the conference Bowers wrote out his resignation and turned it over to Fisher. Fisher urged him to return , but ho absolutely refused to do BO , stating that there were no in ducements that could be offered that would cause him to change his mind. He said he had determined upon going Into the Thunder Hay country to pros pect for gold , and that there ho was Kolng. Railroad Men Visit Rosebud. Dallas News : That real Interest la manifested in the railroad building project in Trlpp county Is evidenced by the numerous visits of various Northwestern ofliclals In the past few weeks. This morning superintendent of malntainance has his head quarters in Omaha , A. A. Schenck and Vice President Whlltraun of Chicago , In company with L. H. Taylor of Dal las , a former Northwestern employe in the engineering department , left tor a trip through Tripp county to view the proposed survey of that road made lost summer. They will also journey on through the preliminary survey made through Meyer county to the Fine Hldgo reservation before they return. There is every indication that there will be great railroad ac tivity early In the spring and that the road will push westward and that the hundreds of homes that are now hundreds of miles from n railroad will bo at their very door. The great pos sibilities offered In Trlpp county will make it attractive for mil roads to outer the field in great number. It is not impiobable that the Milwaukee will build into that county next year through the north part and the Bur- llngton through the south part with Uie Northwestern traversing it through the central portion. Porter Walth- era , a member of the board of super visors of Clay county , died at a sani tarium in Hastings , as a result , physi cians say , of injuries received in an encounter earlier In the week with a farmer named John Karney , living near GlenUlle. The trouble stalled by reason of Karney refusing to sub mit to a quarantining of his home for scarlet fever by a physician. The doc tor reported the case to the board of supervisors and Walthers , accompan ied him to the Karney home to en force the quarantine. The farmer and supervisor became Involved In a dispute and blows were exchanged. Hakow Tunis- day morning , will without doubt beef of an Interesting character The latest developments aie to the effect that three punctures were found on the left forearm of the dead man by Undertaker R. U. Skinner of this city , while embalming the body. He says that they represented punctures that may have been inflicted by the tines of a pitchfork. In an Interview Dr. Uealty. who per formed the autopsoy , assisled by Dr. Chamberlain , says that ho undressed the body and examined it carefully from head to foot , and found no punc tures or bruises outside of the bullet wound that caused death. He further - ther utates that If there were punc tures on the forearm as Mr. Skinner recltee , they wore placed there after be had examined the body.
