THE DAHLMAN INCIDENT.
Councilman Henry Haase Saw the
Whole Performance.
Councilman Henry Haaso , who was
one of Norfolk's representatives at
the river congress at Sioux City , wit
nessed the Dahlman Incident and
claims that Dahlman's reception was
Inspired by the Omaha delegation.
The cowboy mayor was cried down by
Omaha delegates scattered over the
hall , he says.
Councilman Haase does not think
that Dahlman was drunk , although
Omaha's famous mayor was of course
not riding on the water wagoq.
"In fact the Dahlman Incident was
not as much discussed in Sioux City
as the Friday night engagement of
Grace Cameron , " said Mr. Haaso.
"Sioux City people were looking for
ward to one of the big shows of the
year In 'Little Dolllo Dimples. ' They
asked us to stay over for it but I told
them to sleep off the convention ex

Norfolk Saturday night for the same
show. The way Sioux City people
talked , the Auditorium has something
big for Saturday night. "

A SERIOUS CONDITION.
Wlsner Woman In an Acute State , Op
erated Upon For Gall Stones.
A most serious operation was per
formed by Dr. P. H. Salter upon Mrs.
W. S. Hawk of Wlsner for gall stones
on Thursday. Mrs. Hawk Is sixty-four
ynrs of age , and her trouble had been
allowed to run until the gall bladder
was seeping and she was In an acute
condition at the time of the operation.
But it was taking a chance against
sure death If the operation were not
performed at once , and the friends of
the lady decided to take the chance.
It was found that the gall bladder had
grown to many times Its original size
and fully half a pint of stones , largo
and small , were removed. Shortly af
ter the effects of the anaesthetic be
gan to disappear the temperature of
the lady was reduced and there seems
some probability that she may recover ,
although the chances are against It.
