RAILROADS FORM AGREEMENT.
Northwestern and Red Water Traction
Exchange Use of Tracks.
Deadwood. S. IX , July 17. There
Is a rumor that the Northwestern anil
the lied Water Traction company have
come to an agreement whereby the
Hod Water company gets the use of
the Northwestern's tracks between
lllacktall and this city , about a mile
of road , and In return the Northwest
ern company will have the use of the
road to bo built by the Hod Water
company hotween Spearfinh and Ulack
tall. This will give the lied Water
company an entrance Into Deadwood
and will also furnish the Northwestern
company with an outlet Into the rich
farming country along False llottom
and coal and limber beyond Spearnsh.

Fire Between 9 and 10 O'clock Last
Night Totally Destroyed Norfolk Ice
Company's Buildings , Containing 1-
200 Tons of Ice.
The big Ice houses of Waldo &
Dillenbeck Just east of the city be
tween the hours of 9 nnd 10 o'clock
last night burned to the ground. Near
ly one mass of llames when discover
ed , no effort was made to check the
progress of the fire. No Insurance
was carried on the buildings and the
loss to the ice firm will amount to
several thousand dollars.

It was a light royal last evening be
tween tire and Ice and in the clash of
the hostile elements the fire had all
the best of It. In a few minutes ev
erything combustible about the houses
had burned and even the Ice did not
escape the ravlshlngs of the ( lames.
Loss $7,000 to $8,000 Uninsured.
About 1,200 tons of Ice were stored
in the two big double ice houses that
stood adjacent to each other on the
edge of Freytlmlor's grove. The value
of the buildings was placed at $2,000
or $3,000. Ice and Ice houses , It was
estimated , would total up to between
$7,000 and $8,000. Last night It was
impossible to tell what condition the
Intense heat had left the big pile of
ice.

The ice houses whicn were burned
last night Were built about twelve
years ago by G. W , Schu-cnk , who a
year ago last January disposed of his
business to the firm of Waldo & Dlllln-
beck. '
The origin of the fire was not known.
At 0 o'clock last evening the last load
of Ice for the day was taken from the
houses. On account of the absence of
Insurance the loss to the Ice firm will
be heavy.
The Norfolk Ice company stated af
ter the fire that they would take care
of their patrons and continue to sup
ply them with ico. They thought they
had enough , ce left for this purpose ,
but at all-events1 will continue to sup
ply their trade with ice , buying it if
ilccesrary.
MRS , WILLIAM TAYLOR INJURED
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Were Victims In
Runaway Near Winter Farm.
Mr. and Mrs. William Taylor of
northeast of Norfolk were thrown
from their buggy lu a runaway
Wednesday evening , Mrs. Taylor suf
fering a fractured collarbone and re
ceiving painful bruises about the head.
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were returning
from Norfolk to their homo twelve
miles northeast of the city late In the
afternoon. About two miles from the
city a broken Jjrldlc rendered one of
their horses unmanageable , a runaway
resulting.
At the William Winter farm , Mr.
Taylor succeeded In turning the team
into a lane loading to the house. Hero
the horses ran Into the trees , upset
ting the spring wagon and throwing
the occupants to the ground.
