An experiment in Garfield county has
demonstrated that pine trees will not
only grow on the sand hills of Nebraska
but they will make a growth which is
unknown in sections where the soil is
heavier It is probable that this dis
covery will make the western sand hill
oountry valuable property
The weekly crop bulletin issued from
the weather bureau at the university of
Nebraska for the week ending June 24
tells about tho same story for the counties
of northeast Nebraska which might be
snmmed up in the following Corn
backward crop weedy cultivation being
delayed by rains small grain doing well
hay crop and pastures fine
New hay is being placed on the
market and the price is likely to soon
suffer a shock from which it will not
recover for many mouths An abund
ance of this staple stock food is in tight
nnd the hay maker who gets his product
on the market first is tho one who will
profit although there will undoubtedly
be a demand for oil that can bo grown

last night announcing that her youngest
brother had been killed by a sunstroke
yesterday in Kansas Mrs Morrison
and Harold left this morning for

meet her father mother and other mem

hall and the evening was passed in

the orchestra of the institution
