Norman Hills died in Norfolk Neb
on Dec 24 1000 aged 70 years Do
ceased Jwas a native of Massachusetts
He was at ono timo engaged in business
ut Sycamore 111 after which ho re
moved to Chicago where he remained
several years and became quite wealthy
The great Chicago fire however caught
him without insurance protection nnd
left him comparatively a poor man
Later he was located at Belle Plain
Iowu from which place he came to
Norfolk about 1885 where he has since
remained in business as a real eBtate
broker
Having no relatives here not very
much is known of his family history
yet it is understood that he did have
two sons and two daughters but their
whereabouts is unknown One siBter
living iu Canon City Col is the only
relative heard from since his death be
sides which he has at least one other
sister living in Massachusetts and one in
in California
As a citizen Mr Hills was exemplary
and moral and inspired bis most inti
mate acquaintances with tho strongest
tics of friendship
As a business man he wus of tho strict
est integrity and uprightness dealing
with the utmost fairness with everyone
and while possessed of great energy and
activity yet his declining years whilo a
resident of Norfolk precluded the possi
bility of his making a groat financial
success He was however keenly alive
to matters of publio enterprise and not
only loyal to tho interests of Norfolk
but has been an important factor in the
upbuilding and growth of the city
