Henry Detgen and George
Ohlman returned from a visit in
Scward county last week. They
also took in the state fair at Lin
coln while away.
Mrs. Fred Raubach returned
from Rockport , Mo. , Sunday
night. Mrs. Raubach was called
to Missouri on business connected
with her mother's estate.
Kenneth and Eunice Murphy
were transferred to the Sheridan
county jail at Rushville , Wednes
day night. . Mr3. Rossete as
deputy accompanied Sheriff Ros-
setcr on the trip.
Services in St. Johh's church
on Sunday , Sept. 17th , both morn
ing and evening at eleven and sev
en thirty o'clock respectively.
Sudnay school at ten. Choir re
hearsal on Saturday evening at
eight.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hamilton
and daughter , Mabel , visited
relatives here Wednesday. In the
afternoon they drove out to J. B.
Gaskills. They left last nigbt for
their home at Stacy , Mont.
Ed Shaffer was arrested late
Thursday night having in his pos
session a suit .case full of goods he
had stolen early in .the evening
from Charles Gassan's store.
Representing himself to be a
ranch hand wanting a complete
outfit , he purchased a suit of
clothes and other furnishings and
then ordered- suit case to pack
them in. When the time came to
pay for his purchases , he grabbed
.the case and ran out the door.
He was arrested later as foe was
bp.ar.ding freight tra.in. ghaffer
plead guilty to the theft 3nd as
the goods are valued at over § 50
he was bound over to the district
court to be sentenced.

soon have a camp in Valentine if
plans being perfected by Johnnie
Stetter and Len llosencrans do
not miscarry. Sheriff Kosseter is
being spoken of as Chief Scout.
The Worley Engineering Co. ,
is making an estimate of the dam
age caused by the dam going out.
The city is having this work done
to get at a settlement with the
contractors. It is expected that
the report will be finished in a
week or ten days. As soon as a
settlement is made with the con
tractors steps will be taken to get
the repairs at the dam under way.
