MARRIED FIFTY YEARS
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Cramer Celebrate
Their Golden Wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Cramer cel
ebrated their golden wedding on
Tuesday , August 29 , by giving a re
ception at the park pavilion. Over
one hundred people gathered to
commemorate this oc3asion and
wish this worthy couple many more
happy years of wedded life.
Tables were placed the entire
length of the building through the
center and two shorter ones on the
sides upon which tne wedding re
past was spread
J. G. Gaskill was the toast mas
ter and kept the relatives and
friends first in a humorous and
then a serious mood , as he told ol
the happenings of fifty years or
more. Mrs. H. M. Cramer gave a
beautiful recitation after which the
toast was responded to by Mr. C. W.
Cramer. Ljia Cramer , a grand
daughter , sang and Mrs. Lottie
Cramer gave a poem which was
followed by informal talks by I. M.
Rice , Mr. and Mrs. Eansbottom 0.
W. Hahu and B. I. Johnson. Each
in turn spoke very highly of Mr.
and Mrs. Cramer as relatives ,
friends and neighbors. After the
dinner the time was spent in visit
ing.
Charles W. Cramer was born in
Knox county , Ohio , 03fcober 29 ,
1839. . Phoebe T. Gaskill was born
near Bluffton , Allen county , Ohio ,
November 22 , 1842. They were
joined m the holy bonds of matri

They settled on land north of Val

ramcvjd to town to spend their
declining years. They have three
children , H. M. and T. VV. Cramer
of Valentine , and Mrs. Ed Mason
of St. Joseph , Mo. ; eight grand
children and two great grandchil
dren. In their immediate fainilj7 ,
no deaths liave thus far came to
mar their happiness.
Many beautiful and expensive
presents were on display at the
pavilion. One that attracted
marked attention was a quilt sent
by Mrs. George Goble of Beaver
Dam , Ohio. Mrs. Cramer had
made the quilt for Mrs. Goble near
ly fitty years ao , and it came as a
great surprise , bringing back mem
ories that were almost forgotten.
J. C. Gaskill and Mary Hurley
were united in marriage at the same
time and place , with Mr. and Mrs.
Cramer. They reside at Stacy ,
Montana , and had hoped to come
to Valentine and celebrate their an
niversary also , but circumstances
were such they could not get away.
In the crowd of over one hundred
only about twelve were not connect
ed by blood relation or marriage.
This is the second golden anniver
sary celebrated in Valentine.
Those who came from a distance
to attend the wedding were , Mr. and
Mrs. C. C. Ransbottora of Delaware ,
Okla. , Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Young ,
and Mr. and Mrs. G. Andrews of
Beaver Dam , Ohio ; Mr. and Mrs
Ed Mason and Mr. and Mrs. Way-
land Mason of St. Joseph , Mo. , Mr.
and Mrs D. A. Hurley of Perry ,

and E. B. Wilkinson of Kennedy.
Mrs. Eansbottom and Mrs. An
drews are sisters of Mr. Cramer. \
Mr. and Mrs. Bansbottom hope to
celebrate their golden w'edding in
nine years and while here gave an
invitation to all present to join
them at that time. "
