The farmers and stock growers of Northern Montana have pre sented a petition in the senate fa\- erin g the Canadian reciprocity bill. Last Sunday trains began run ning from Dallas to Winner in Tripp county. Winner will prob ably be the terminus , of this branch of the Northwestern as far as building opeiations the pres ent year are concerned. vltis estimated that there were 5000 Indians and 500 white people at the celebration near Kosebud on N July 4th. About 800 tepees were pitched in a circle around the grounds. The Valentine ball team and band went to Long Pine the * 4th and played the Bassett team at the Long Pine Amusement park. Val entine won by a score of 2 to 1. Grimes and Fischer were the bat teries for Valentine. About 50 people went from here , to help win the game and enjoy the hos pitality of Long Pine. Everyone had a good time and claim it is a good place to celebrate. Long Pine will come here with their ball team and band during the Frater nal picnic Sept. 6 to 9. Gil man had a jiarrow es cape from death at Neligh on Jul.y 3. He was riding in his auto and in an attempt to back up the. clutch refused to work and the machine went over a twenty foot embankment.
