Subscription - § l.f > 0 Per Year Local Notices , 5cper line per issue Entered ; fit the Postofflce at Valentine , Neb. , for transmission through the mails , us class matter. Thursday , June 29 , 1911. Senator Gore ( Dem. Okla. ) who led the fight which caused the fi nance committee to report tht- wool and farmers' free list bills , says : " "I think it is generally \ n- derstood now that the reciprocity hill will be passed without any amendments. But the question whether the president will veto a bill or not should have no bearing on the action of the senate. We do not need any report from the tariff board or any one else to show that the wool tariff needs revision downward. The presi dent himself has said that 'scedule K' is indefensible. "I have in my possession , wool en goods which I bonsrht in Can ada for just one-half the price charged in this country. The president , in reference to his reci procity agreement , has repeatedly said that the price of labor and the cost of production in Canada is the same as in the United States. We know that to be a fact. Then a high tariff is the only explana tion of this difference in prices. "If we pass the wool bill this summer , it will reduce the cost or clothing to all the people of tin1 United States next fall and win ter. ter."If "If we wait for a report from the tariff board , another winter will have passed with the same ex tortionate and inexcusable pricftc being assessed against the people. " Committees from the "Woodmen , Workmen , Odd Fellows , Eagles , and the Corn Show met at Mc- Leod's office Tuesday night , to arrange plans for the Fraternal Picnic and Corn Show this fall. Sept. G , 7 , 8 , 9 , are the dates set for the big doings in Minnecbadu- za Park. Prizes will be given for all farm produce as well as coop ing and baking.
