" , * * Ill Junior Normal Notes. The drawing class has been do ing out door work * Mr. A. C. McLauchlin , repre senting D. C. Heath & Co. , visited us Tuesday and gave us a very in teresting talk at chapel. The exercises Monday morning were punctuated by the piano tun er working in the hall. Asa result of his efforts the instrument is now in very much better condition. The demand of the botany class for microscopes has outgrown the supply and Prof. Jones is taxing his ingenuity to provide more in struments. The members of the faculty who come from other parts of the state have taken many short excursions into the country near Valentine , and unite in praising the beauty and variety of the scenery. Jt is no wonder that people love a country like this. County Superintendent's Notes. All teachers are expected to at tend institute week- unless they have been excused. C. L. Little , representing the Educationtional Publishing Co. spent Wednesday at the normal addressing the students at chapel hour. Prof. Marcellus disappeared Fri day night and was not seen again about town until Monday morning. The whither and the why have not been reavealed. Will school boards please notifiy this office as soon as they have em ployed their teacher so that I may know how much of a shortage of teachers there will be in the county. A letter from the state superin tendent says that ninth or tenth grade work taught by a teacher who does not hold at least a first grade county certificate will not be credited. Teachers attending the Junior Normal are doing excellent work. School boards looking for wide , awake teachers cannot do better than to employ one of these for the coming year. No teacher who has grades to make up should ask for any len iency in regard to certficates unless they avail themselves of the excel lent opportunity of reviewing their work in the Junior Normal this summer. Wednesday afternoon was de voted to out door class work. The students formed groups for the study of geography , geometry and botany under "the supervision of the instructors in these branch es. All met at the park for work combined in the pedagogy , meth ods and round table classes. Games and sport were enjoyed af ter class work was done. Ice cream and soft drinks at Spain's.
