Simeon.
Our geniel merchant , A. E. Spall
is busy these days. The cream sta
tion at Simeon is very convenient
for the dairy men , and is paying a
good sum each week for cream.
To say that there was no mo
notony around Simeon this past
week would be putting it mildly.
Three picnics with basket dinners
should please the most exacting.
The fishing party in honor of
Rev. Parsons , from a fishing stand
point was not very successful as
the fish were too modest to bite.
However two fine bass did Eev. Par
sons the honor to allow themselves
to be caught. Seeing this a num
ber of sun fish did likewise.
Children's .day was observed on
Thursday. Eev. parsons gave a
splendid sermon in the forenoon.
A basket dinner was then served ,
and such a dinner. There was abun
dant proof that isviis very satis
factory to those partaking. The
program in the afternoon was well
rendered. Mrs. Hudson told a beau
tiful story to the little folks. The
quartette furnished the music aided
by the school. The school is very
grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Daniels
for the use of their giove for the
occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Stilwell desire to
express their deep and lasting gra
titude to all who helped in the
search for their little girl when she
was lost ; also to all those who
showed so much interest in the
hunt by coming for miles to the
celebration of the event. They
feel that words cannot express
their thanks to these friends , nor
pay the obligations which they
feel under toward those who ren
dered such willing and efficient
service. They regret exceedingly
that anything occured on the day
of the celebration to mar in any
way the feelings of rejoicing and
friendship with which all gathered
there ; and they desire to state that
all bills and expenses for that occa
sion were incurred without their
consent or knowledge and that the
collection asked for was not ap-

proved by them.
On Saturday the celebration in
honor of little Lucv Stilwell was
, held on Blackberry Lake at Milton
Latta's place. Aft-sr a dinner spread
on the grass ths meeting was called
to order by C. W. Bennett. The
quartette sang a hunting song. Mr.
Bennett then introduced Mr. Milton
Latta , who gave a vivid rehearsal of
the search to find the lost child ,
after which the quartette sang "The
Vale of Night Descends. " The call
then for all who had saddle horses
was made and soon a large troop
was formed. A few instructions by
the captain and the command , for
ward march , was given. One could
not repel a thrill of admiration as
those men and boys whose lives
have been largely spent in the
saddle , moved orderly forward by
fours and formed in a long search
ing line to represent the real search.
In a short time Lucy was found and
brought in amid cheers and waving
of hats. Various pictures were
taken of the gathering. An exten
sive write up will be made later giv
ing in detail the events of the day.
Grant Spain has moved his res
