The infant child of Mr. and Mrs.
Erlenry Grooms was very sick
Tuesday. Mrs. Grooms is in an
Omaha hospital. Mr. Grooms
was called there Monday night.

| Licenses to Fish and Hunt are in
Demand.
The demand for license to fish
and hunt by residents of Cherry
county has been steady since the
season opened. About 125 local
licenses have been issued at the
county clerk's office , and Deputy
Warden Clarkson disposed of about
73. Only five non resident license
( to fish only ) have been issued by
the county clerk , and these were
taken out by residents of South
Dakota. The money derived from
the sale of these licenses is sent to
the office of the chief game warden.
Anyone wishing a copy of the 1911-
1912 game and fish laws can get
one at the county clerk's office.
Gypsies are Arrested.
A large band of Gypsies went
through Valentine Thursday ply
ing their trade of fortune-telling ,
begging , etc. They were travel
ing east and at the William's place
near Thacher one of the band rob
bed William Boyer of two or three
dollars. Sheriff Rosseter was no
tified and overtook the outfit three
miles west of Wood Lake but
brought only one of the men to
Valentine. He was fined § 26.60
which was paid.

inson ranch northeast of Merri
man. This is one of , the oldest

ranches in Cherry county and con
sists of 2,210 acres , all under fence
with good ranch 'buildings and
other improvements.

ranch for some time and there are
now many acres of this valuable a
