Ainsworth Saturday.
Bud Klingaman is visiting' at
the parental home this week.
Ben Pearson of Brownlee was
in recently after a load of freight.
J. E. Leader has sold his baled
hay and is shipping it to Dead-
wood.
Herman Bradinger , wife and
babe visited with friends over
Sunday.
The W. 0. W. lodge is steadily
increasing and have nearly reach
ed the 50 mark.
Mrs. Viva Kennedy is still un
able to be in school , but we hope
to see her with us again soon.
Mrs. Frank Krampert left Sun
day morning for Omaha to enter
the hospital where she expects to
undergo an operation.
Ben Warren of Sparks was vis
iting 'a lady friend over Sunday.
Queer that he never visited our
burg until Grace came home.
Prof. H. E. Paine unloaded
a printing outfit last week. He
expects to start a newapaper in
Wood lake soon after school closes.
The wrestling match held here
Saturday night was very well at
tended. Watts got the first fall in
33 minutes and the second in 17i.
Editors Beebout of Johnstown
and Lyman of Longpine were up
to the wrestling match. Also a
number from Ainsworth and
Johnstown.
Mrs. C. S. Bates of Omaha , who
has been visiting her brother W.
L. Klingaman , and family , left
for Chadron where she will visit
her brother Charles Klingaman.
Prof. Flake and wife and Miss
Lila McAndrew of Ainsworth and
Prof. Grandy of Johnsto > vn were
up to attend the declamatory con
test and incidentally served as
judges.
I. M. Rice and wife were pleas
ant visitors Saturday and we are
always glad to welcome them both.
They have many friends here who
wish they would only make their
visits more dxtensive.
Prin. Paine returned Sunday
morning from Chadron where he
attended th'e declamatory contest
and teacher's association. He re
ports a splendid meeting and gen
eral good time. He says the new
state normal building will be fine
when completed. d

Mrs. Bertha Deloney of Sioux
City is here visiting her daughter ,
Blanche , who has been quite ill for
the past ten days but is much im
proved and hopes to enter upon
her school duties soon. Mrs. De
loney will remain for a short visit
with her parents and sisters.
The Degree of Honor gave an
open meeting on the evening of
March 30 , to which their husbands
and a few other select men were tl
invited. These ladies know the
art of entertainment as was clearly
shown by their little informal pro
gram and the excellent quality of
their ice cream and cake.
Mrs. Lottie Grady and Mrs.
Ellison very pleasantly entertain
ed eight of their lady friends at a
four course dinner Sunday at the
Lake View hotel , the dining room
with flowers , ferns and roses. Miss t (
Grady' and Mrs. Ellison are cer nii
tainly worthy of much praise in In

their excellent manner of entertaining - o
taining and it is useless to try to
't find words of praise for the boun
tiful dinner and the manner in In
which it was served. Those who 1
had the honor of being guests at
this pleasant dinner were Mrs. "

ner , Florence and Mary Hanna ,
Inez Brown , CUloe and Grace
Waggoner and Mrs. Edythi Lat-
ta. Several ladies were unable to
be present.
The school gave a declamatory
contest a week ago last Friday , in
which eight pupils took part. All
the contestants deserve great cred
it for the labor put forth on their
work and the excellence with
which they gave the program.
The judges awarded Charlotte
Hanna first place in the dramatic
class and Joe Kounovsky first
place in the oratorical class.

The Woodlake correspondent
has been top busy with other work
to send in any items for the last
three weeks. During that time
many thing have happened that
will never be recorded. Among
fie important events was the re
turn of all the Florida visitors ex
cept Mr. Ballard. Messrs. Han
na , Uck and Honey , with their
wives , report a very enjoyable
trip. Mr. Uck does not have the
hobble in-his walk that
- was pre
dicted on his return home. He
informs us that the aligator died.

Ernest Schubert , now an em
ployee of the Churn ranch , went
over to the Seth Gerry ranch on he
the reservation last week to sup
erintend the Churn stock which is
being kept there.
Blanche , the M year old daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sher
man , departed this life Friday
morning. The funeral services
were held at the Center school
house Saturday at 11 a. m. A
