J. E. Emery was on the sick list
the first of the week but is again
able to work.
Frances Den tier has again enter
ed school after an absence of a
week owing to illness.
The W. 0. W. lodge was organ
ized Wednesday night with twenty-
five membeis. Will Prindle has
charge of the affair.
J. B. Leader spent Sunday at bis
home 12 rniles'southwest of town ,
and returned to his work on Mrs.
Latta's house Monday.
Gerald Smith stopped off Monday
on his way from Albion , Nebr. , to
his home at Chadron , to visit his
cousin , Mrs. H. B. Klingaman.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Tinkbam
are the proud parents of a pair of
twins , a fine boy and girl. Two
more members for the W oed Lake
baud.
Miss Chloe Waggoner began
teaching in the McDaniel district
Monday. Ethel McDaniel has been
teaching this fall but leaves soon
for Denver.
About twenty came up from
Johnstown to attend church , among
whom were Eev. Wilber and wife ,
Bev. Jordon and wife , Misses Nellie
and Hazel Holt , Emma Peterson ,
Gertrude Gaff , Messrs. Louis and
Albert Holt , Lee and Arch Will
iams , Bay Cawley , John Horn , B.C.
and Leroy Beebout , Adolph Hon-
nen , Bev. Fletcher.Ve are en
joying a two weeks revival meet
ings and are glad to say we have
had a fine attendance every night.
Beading circle met Saturday af
ternoon. Not a great deal was done
owing to most of the teachers not
having purchased reading circle
books. Those in attendance were
Misses Fern Aj.plegate , Blanche
Shepard , Ciiloe Waggoner and
Prin. H. E. Paine. Miss Grady
was unable to attend on account
of illness and Mrs. Latta was ab
sent , owning to her brother's acci
dent. Our next meeting we believe
will be one of the best as all ex
pect to have the books and time to
study them.

nesday evening , Dec. 14 , twenty-

and organized them into a camp
of the Woodmen of the World ,
as Booster Camp No , 336. The
intention of the members of this (
camp is to increase the member
ship to fifty by January 1st. The

Eoy Klingaman had the misfor A
tune to get his leg broken Saturday
morning while cutting out cattle at p
T. L. Tiukham's. He had been
M
cutting out cattle and one yearling
became troublesome and he decided E
to rope it and his horse not' being
used to a rope became frightened
and began bucking- The horse ran n
one way and the steer the other and
the rope caught and pulled Eoy off
the horse , but his foot caught in the
stirrup and the Ahorse drug him
about 100 yards , kicking and strik
ing at him. Finally Eoy managed
to get hold of the ladego and was
pulling himself upon the horse
when his leg broke and he felJ to n
ground and his ftfo't Came b'ut
of the stirrup. He was very for
tunate to et out with only a brok
en leg , for he might easily have
been killed. Bay Tinkham immed
iately brought him to town where Dr.
Tische attended him. He is getting
along as well as could be expected.
Mrs. Klingaman was informed of
the accident at once and came in to
care for her husband.

Grain Cct Fire by Heavenly Visitor.
Beaver City , Neb. , Dec. 12. The
large grain elevator owned by O. M.
Linn of Huniboldt , Neb. , burned here
and was an entire loss , together with
1,100 bushels of corn and 800 bushels
of wheat.
Mrs. A. C. Hardin and Mrs. W. E.
Horton , who live short distances from
the elevator site , both claim that it
was struck by a meteor. They were
looking in the direction of the buildIng -
Ing a moment before the fire , when a
luminous ball shot down out of the * \
sky , striking the cupola , and instant
ly the elevator burst into flames
seemingly from the top to thebottom. .
As soon as the ruins have cooled a
search will be made for the heavenly.
