DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR

U. S. SENATOR : - -
/ The Hon. Gilbert : \ 1. Hitchcock , congressman for the
Second district of Nebraska , and democratic nominee f 01
U. S. senator , has proven himself one of the ablest rep-
. resentatives that our state has ever had in the halls N o1
congress. His ability as a speaker , coupled with his un -
tiring energy as a worker , along progressive lines that
make for the interest of the masses instead of the fe ,
+ - high beneficiaries for which his opponent , Mr. Burkett , I
has been toiling and voting incessantly , marks him as ' a
I > man who may be trusted with 1 the people's affairs at the

frauds of the 11Io1 garl -x 11 'elrhrllI1 brand and lessei
assaults upon the proeprty of the people that it is 1101

. , ' 'W. J. TAYLOR , . '
DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR
S CONGRESS , 6TH DISTRICT
"Mine : is not a campaign ® < f vilification , it is rathei
a protest against' broken pledges on the part of my op
ponent , a promise to the people for tariff revision down-
ward and then deliberately breaking that promise. I air
not slinging . mud. X am- - merely mentioning . facts l re
.
garding my opponeQ. : " - ,
Thus spake "W- J. Taylor , our candidate for con-
gress in ' the Sixth district against Moses : P. Kinkaid , the
present incumbent , and it most certainly constitutes a
welcome gleam . of sunshine that has the potency ar
x-ray' it penetrates the somber clouds of mud that
have gathered about the horizon of this the most gro-
tesquely mixed campaign that'Nebraska ever experienced
: 1r , . Taylor is waging his fight along . the lines of
decency and will coyer the , thirty-five counties that com
prise the district. He tells his audience in a heart tc
heart 't manner that it is not liis , missioh nor that of his co-
workers to destroy corporations but to control them ir ]
the interests of'the plain people. He calls the a.ttentior i
of his listeners to the broken , promises . of his opponenl 1
) and demonstrates the effect that the failure on the parl
of their representative to perform his whole duty has
upon their daily avocation and the public welfare ir ]
; . general. ' ,
The speeches of Mr. : Taylor are interspersed wit
) amusing verbal illustrations and cannot fail in having
1 1 the effect of creating ) an awakening that will cause men
to begin voting for their - own interests , not by striving
' for the enticing but unattainable utopia offered them 'b v
( the socialistic 1proP ogan la , but by accepting the practical
- at least half loaf that they now have an opportunity tc
secure by voting the. democratic ticket.

the unstinted support of all those voters who have known -
him either personally' or in a business way and his

farming 30 miles south of Lincoln , which project proved
very profitable. In November , 1902 , he moved with , his

- C. A. RUBY.
L. C. ' A. Kuby should receive the support of all men in -
i J terested in county affairs. It is not our . titY any more
- than your duty to speak a good word for him and thus
. work for our combined interests for better administration
. of justice , honesty l and elevation of our commonwealth.
, 'You may not know hInYaS well as we do , but even a short
: acquaintance ought to convince you that he is a straight
: forward young man of extraordinary ability , of good
l' moral habits and progressive ideas that ! will , be creditable
G as an official and justify Cherry county people in elect-
ing hiin county attorney. '
Mr. : Ruby has lived in our midst for the past two
years as a school teacher , and the people with whom he
I has . associated most , are his strongest supporters. Not
l' only among the democrats , but the republicans are tak-
) ing an . active - interest in his campaign. .
1 L Mr. Ruby is a graduate of the University of : Michi
. gan , Ann Arbor law school , and began practice as an at-
1 toijney in our city last spring after closing a successful
1terns of school at Wood- Lake as principal , and since _
t cprning here he has had considerable practice in his pro- - '
. fession , in wliich he hasxbeen found faithful in his duties
. and is receiving encouragement from many of Valen-
L tine's good business men , though it is from the country
that we expect ' most of his support. Valentine will n of
clain1.the credit of electing him county attorney , though
he may get a good vote here. Eather will be the votes
of good citizens over the county , who want to see a
. change in this office , and we are heartily with you for
Mr : ; : Ruby. '

TO THE VOTERS OF CHERRY COUNTY.I ? I
. .
r ,
This letter to make it i known
. to-.you that I.am a candidate by
petition for the office of County : I
Superintendent of Cherry ' county.
) Neb. , and I wish to solicit your ;
support. I am now principal of
the Cody Schools , and as my con-
, tract and work keeps me in Cody
' a greater part of the time 1 find it
.
) difficult to visit all parts of the
county. I have been a resident of ]
Cherry county for the past twenty I |
four years a graduate of the
Valentine High School , and of
Belleviie college , where I received
- my Ph. . . B . degree. .
I believe that the future of our
institutions depends upon the
' education of the rising generation ;
.
and that too much stress can not be
) y placed , . upon - better and more per-
4
r
fected educational systems. I
realize the conditions of our coun-
ty. Its size will necessitate many
long and hard drives for the
Superintendent , but in order that
the school ! system of our county
may be hamonized into a perfect
running machine as it should be ,
it is the duty of the County . Super- j
intendent to visit -
. every school in
his county , at least once during
the year , and it shall be my desire . '
and intention if elected to thor- i'
oughly ] perform this duty. , :
In voting for me the cross must ' - t I
be placed on / the ballot opposite ' , ' \ k.
my name , otherwise it would be . - ' : tf
. of no value , ' to me. Any support , i
that you : may give me will be .
greatly appreciated. With very i' '
best wishes I am Ij I
Yours truly , . j
