John Cordier returned from the
hospital at Omaha , where he
underwent an operation for an
abscess of the stomach. He is
now at the residence of Yank
The first of the week Henry
Stetter shipped four cars of cattle ;

Tobien three. They were sent to
the Omaha market and Jake ac
Josh Hitt went up to Cody last
week after Jim Bradshaw who
had the misfortune of having his
leg broken while driving the mess
wagon for MeltendorfTs hunting
party ! north of that place.
Farmer Mack Cramer dropped
I in to say hello , Saturday , and says
: he raised some fine potatoes , 19 of
I which fill a half bushel , and also
raised a hundred tons of millet.
It is his first year on the farm for
several years , and says he can do
better next year.
On next Tuesday evening , Oct.
18th. , the patrons of the QuigJey ]
hall are to have something of a
treat in the line of farce comedy.
" -Weary Willlie Walker" has been
booked for one performance in
this city , and the manager guaran-
tees this attraction to be one of the
funniest ever seen in this city.

bank we took a fourteen-mile spin
in the former's automobile the first
of the week. We are prepared to
state that as a space anuihiliator
and sand gladiator John's mam-
moth Buick is all he claims for it.
" "TearyVillie Walker , " one of
the newest and brightest musical
farce comedies , will be the offering
at the Quigley Hall on next Tues- :
day evening , Oct. 18th. Vic Crane ,
a well-known comedian will be seen
in the principal role of "Weary
Willie , " a part very well adapted to
him in that he possesses the talent
necessary to pr ent a good charac
ter and carry it properly through
out the action of the piece. He is
supported by a large and competent
cast. Seventeen special musical
numbers will be introduced during
the action which are full of spice
and ginger from first curtain to the
P. F. Nuss of Sutton , special
agent for Columbia Fire Ins. C ) . ,
visited over Sunday with I. M.
Rice and , family in this city , and
we . . took t him out for a short walk
looking over the famous _ Lake
Minnechaduza , the city park and
down to the city's new dam site.
He admired the scenery and
thought the walk was worth
another year's lease of life. Mr.
Nuss is a brother - in-law to Mrs.
llicete \ father , Cu ! . Davis , who ;
with his wife , 'visited ' us last
spring and had told him of our
beautiful country and enterprising
people. He went out Monday to
Wm. Anderson's , 25 miles west on
the Niobrara , to settle a fire loss.
Charley Jordan , who lives l in
the west end of town had the
misfortune of being bitten by a
rattlesnake last Sunday morning.
He was riding along the Minne
chaduza when his team flushed a
rabbit which run into a hole , and
getting out from his buggy he
stooped down to inspect the hole
with the idea of twisting the ani-
mal out with a stick and when his
face was near the opening the
snake bit him r just below the right
eye. He came to town immediate-
ly and was attended by Drs. Lewis
and Compton. He is confined to
his bed and is very much swoolen
about the head and neck but it is
thought that he will come through

2nd mass at 10 a. m.
Benediction ot the Blessed Sac-
rament after mass.
