Miss Dora Grewe came in from
the country where she has been
visiting the past week. She will
visit in town a day or two then re-
turn to her home at Nenzel. Miss
Grewe goes back to Lake to teach
this fall.
Wednesday afternoon we had
quite a hard electric storm. M
Isenhart's house was' struck by
lightning , the phone being torn
from the wall , and . plastering and
paper torn off at the northwest
corner and then it ran across the
roof ! to the southeast corner and
I took off the plastering there. ' The
shingles were set on fire but this
was soon put out and no serious
harm was done. This might have
been a serious accident as Mr. and
Mrs. Sales were irr the house at
the time the bolt struck , but , for-
tunately neither were hurt.
When WQ arrived at church Sun-
day evening we found the church
dark and Eev. Carpenter there
without a match , and no one there
to even tell him the cause of this.
We know the train was late but
MJ Carpenter had driven from
Johnstown , ten miles , to hold his
regular services and if he will
drive that distance after 6 o'clock
to "keep his word" we surely
ought to try to at least have our
church lighted. Even though Mr. \
Carpenter should be unable to get
here it would look much better for
us to go and have a little meeting
ourselves rather than have this
occur again. Come now , citizens
We have a nice church and plenty
of people to take part in church
J work. Let us do better hereafter.
