The democratic electors of the state of Nebraska are hereby call- ed to meet in delegate convention in Grand Island , July 26 , 1910 , at \ 2 o'clock'p. m. , for the purpose of drafting a democratic state "platform , the election of a state committee , and the transaction of any other business which may properly . come before the conven\ tLOn. . I tion.The The representation in said con- vention will be based upon the vote cast for presidential : electors in 1908 , and each county will be entitled to . one delegate for each 150 votes , or major fraction there- of , cast at said presidential elec- tion , which entitles Cherry county to 7 delegates. It is recommended by the state committee that no proxies be rec- ognized by the state convention , but that the delegates actually present from each county be auth- orized to cast the full number of votes to which the county is entit- led under this call. At a meeting of the democratic state committe , held June 4 , 1910 , the following resolution , was adop- ted , and same is recommended to the attention of all the county and legislative committees : x Resolved , That it is the sense of the state committee that all demo- cratic legislative candidates should file an acceptance of "statement No. one" of , the so called , "Oregon . Mrs. Anna Gerber will have a hearing in Judge Quigley's court tomorrow , charged with breaking ; the peace and to decide as , to plac- : ing her under bonds to keep tbe' peace. It is said she fired at a neighbor's boy. Melvin Hooper had a narrow es- : cape from death by drowning . last Sunday. He was rescued uncon- scious and resuscitated after being in the water several minutes , no one knows exactly how long , but seemed a long time. ' this. * May Barnes who has been teach- ing at Arabia got home Thursday. We are all glad to see May back in our midst. Dan Adamson and family retur- ned Saturday fnom their pleasure trip to Hot Springs. The report is a very good time. * > "While coming home from school Wednesday evening the team which Bryan Barnes was driving ran away and the line became caught in some b way and the team got frightned. Miss Grewe , the teacher , jumped out to catch them and was thrown about fifteen feet. The buggy final- ly upset and the double tree broke throwing Mildred Barnes over the dash board and the buggy fell on Bryan no one was seriously ! hurt they were very much frightened. Dan Barnes gave a dance Friday night in honor of May's birthday. A larger crowd has never assembled at a dance in this vicinty. Every body enjoyed themselves to the ut = most. The music was "boss" and everybody danced until broad day light. A delicious supper was serv- i ed at midnight r. , to sixty-eight people. I Matches'used as tooth picks were served as the last course. Part of the crowd did not get home until after noon. A number of the horses were turned into the pasture and some one was kind enough to leave the gate open , so when morning came the horses were gone. The I I two young men who went to look for them were so sleepy they took a nap before they came back mak- ing it eleven o'clock before they re turned. % , A BADGER. D. , who happened to be in town , and enjoyed a good visit with them. Mr. Pugh is thenew and Mr. Means ' the retiring postmaster at Gamble. They had a joke go- ing about U. G.
