Harry Hagen has charge of the
town herd this season.
J. W. Groves and wife were
Wood lake visitors Tuesday.
Henry Lay ton is reported very
sick , old age being the cause.
August Klopping and Harry
McDill were in town Sunday.
Mrs. Elmer Redick is very
sick. Dr. Tische is attending.
Mesdames Tinkham and Ward
were shopping in town Saturday.
Austin Howe and N. J. Uck'
paid a visit to Valentine , Friday.

town.
Mrs. Russ Carter is in town
under the medical care of Dr.

The work upon'the drug store
building is being rapidly com-
pleted.

expects his wife home in a couple

an extended visit in the east and ;

0. W. McDaniel has been fitting
up a bath room in the residence of
I A. M. Lotspeich , the past few
da 's.
Marshall Hyde and wife have
gone to their farm near Beatrice.
Mrs. John B. Wood came from
Longpine last Friday to visit her
husband's homestead south of
Wood lake. Mr. : Wood is era-
ployed at Longpine by the railroad
: company at their pumping station.
All improvements have been
stopped pending the settlement of
the controversy between the C. &
N. W. , and local residents as to
the validity of title to town prop-
erty claimed by the railroad com-
pany.
The way some of our citizens
turn their cattle loose around town
is a shame as these cows are ruin-
ing the cemetery and gardens
around town. It is to be hoped
that the newly elected town board
will put a stop to this outrage.
Sunday evening a party of
young : folks , carrying well laden
lunch baskets , gathered at the
lake shore , where fire was built
and coffee boiled. After supper ,
which was pronounced a success ,
those who desired enjoyed a boat
ride , S .
The Arabia baseball team play-
ed a game of ball here Sunday
afternoon with the Breezy Sum-
mit team , which turned out dis
astrous for the latter. Score 10
to 3. Umpire , M. Isenhart. The
Breezy Summit team was also de
feated by a scrub team of Wood
Lake by a score of 7 to 3. U m-
pire'T. . F. Parker. Charles
Ruby pitched for the scrubs.
On Monday , May 23 , at 5:15 :
p. m. , the Omaha business men
will arrive in Woodlake in .solid
steel train of Pullman cars. They
will have on board their own elec-
tric light plant , a moving picture
show , an apparatus for taking
moving pictures of the people in
the streets of your town , the prize
band of Omaha , and thousands of
sheep bells to "ring for Omaha. "
They will also have on board a
barber shop , press bureau , stenog-
raphers , and a complete telephone
equipment of forty instruments

connecting the whole train , and
will be prepared at most places to
connect up with Omaha. On this
trip will be given away tons of
advertising matter and attractive
souvenirs. Every member of the
party will wear a white hat and
carry a bright colored sunshade ,
which will bear the name of the
house he represents. The band
will lead a parade from the train
to the center of your : town. It
will then break ranks , and each
man'will visit the dealers in his
line of business.
