Roy and Mabel Tessier of Bruns wick entered the seventh and eighth grades this week. Prof. , Bettenga . performed some , interesting experiments in electric ity in the eighth grade room Tues- day. Supt. Bettenga gave a most help- ful talk to the high school on I ' Wednesday morning on the value' of correct habits of study. It is planned to give an open I program May 14 , in which the j whole school takea "part. Watch these columns for program later. The senior girls of the class in Theory and Practice visited the : primary room Monday for an ob servation lesson in practical school work. The first and second primary grades are having a ten minute re cess twice a day. They do better work when they can get out doors for a little lomp. I . , The Gordon-Valentine debate oc curs as scheduled : on Saturday eve , April 23 , at the opera house. This promises to be a very entertaining evening program. The teams have worked earnestly on their argument ; ; ! and no doubt . will . present their re - spective sides with great credit to themselves , and . the schools they represent. Valentine friends will be pleas- ed to learn , of the happy marriage of Miss Tacy Collett t , > John E. Elliott , April 12 , at Lacy , Nebr. Both were employees of the gov- ernment. Rev. L. E. Phifer wishes to cor- rect the impression of a Sparks correspondent to the muck-raker by saying , that his step-son has al- ways a home with him when he is not working elsewhere , and that the boy was supposed to be stay- ing with Mrs. : Mary J , Grooms and was not without a home. ? \ lrs. Susan J. Berry died at the home of her daughter , Mrs. Chas. , Charles , Hudson , near Sparks , , April 1 ? , 1910 after ashort illness occasioned probably by old age and the recent death of her daugh- ter , Mrs. Ed ] ? arry. Four daugh- ters and two sons survive her. Mrs. : Berry was past 76 years old. "The governor of Colorado in his lecture on Saturday evening at the College of Physicians spoke very highly of Dr. Barton 0. Aylesworth as the most eloquent speaker in Colorado and a man who is held in high esteem in his own state. " Philadelphia Press. Mr. Aylesworth will be in Val entine May 7. Admission free.
