C. & N. W. . Adopts Tele
' phone for Train
'
l Dispatching.
The Chicago & North\ + estern
Railroad Company has recently
purchased from the Western Elec-
tric Company apparatus for a
complete train dispatching circuit
extending from Chadron to Long
Pine , a distance of 198 miles. The
circuit will be very complete and
the line ] itself has been constructed
entirely of new material.
The telephone method of hand-
ling trains is of special value in
sections such as that between
Chadron and Long Pine , owing
to the fact that during certain
seasons of the year a great many
of the stations consist simply of
sidings. These stations , however ,
during a large portion of the year
are important shipping points for
the ranchers in that vicinity. In
many places there are no telegraph
stations and at such points tele-
phones will be installed , rendering
it possible for any authorized per-
son to obtain stock cars or other
freight accommodations much
more rapidly than would be pos-
sibh if it were necessary to hand-
le the business through the nearest
telegraph office.
. . . .rAt a great many of these sidings
local l freight trains and other
trains are held waiting for passen-
ger trains , and in case of delays
this arrangement has been a source
of consideraale expense , due to
the fact that it has been impossible ;
to get word to these trains and ar
range for their forward move-
ment. These delays will be mini-
mized by r the use of the telephone
system of train dispatching.

' JOHNJ. MCLEAN. Observer.
Mayor James Dahlman , Chief
of Police Donahue , and members
of the fire and police board of
Omaha were cited to appear be-
fore Shallenberger and At-
torney General Thompson last
Saturday to answer to the charge
of dereliction of duty , or to show
cause why they should not be dis-
missed from office for failure , to
enforce the eight o'clock saloon
law and the anti-gambling laws.
The charge was brought against
them by the anti-saloon league ] of
Omaha. It will be the duty of
.Attorney General Thompson to
bring ouster proceedings if it is
found there is sufficient grounds
I for removal from office. Gov j
Shallenberger took the matter un- I
der advisement and will render
his decision this week if it devolves
upon him to make such decision.
The Omaha officials declared they
had been doing their duty to en-
force the laws and stated that
Omaha was the best governed
city in the United States , accord-
ing to its size. It was no doubt
humiliating to them to be forced
to answer these charges and to
state that they had been doing
their best to enforce the laws ; but
they gave as their reasons for no
greater success the inadequate
police force and lack of sufficient
funds.

Ordinary Carthartics and
Pills and Harsh Physic
Cause Distressing
Complaints.
You cannot he ! over-careful in
the selection of medicine for'chil -
dren. Only the very gentlest i
bowel medicine should ever be i
given , except in emergency cases.
Ordinary pills , cathartics and pur-
gatives are apt to do more I harm
than good. They cause griping , .
naasea and other distressing after-
effects that are frequently health
destroying and a life-lasting ] an-
noyance.
We personally ) recommend and
guarantee Rexal Orderlies as the
T
safest and most dependable rem-
edy for constipation and associate
bowel disorders. We have such
absolute faith in the , virtues of
this remedy that we sell it on our
guarantee of money back in every
instance where it fails to give en-
tire , satisfaction , and we urge all

Rexall Orderlies contain an en-
tirely new ingredient which is
odorless , tasteless and colorless.
As an active agent , it. embraces
the valuable qualities of the best
known intestinal regulator tonics.
i
Rexall Orderlies are eaten like
candy. They are particularly
prompt and agreeable in action ,
may be taken at any time day or
night ; do not cause diarrhoea , t
nausea , griping , excessive loose-
ness or other undesirable effects.
They have a very natural action
upon the glands and organs with
which they come in contact , act as
a positive and regulative tonic
upon the relaxed'muscular coat of
the bowel and its dry mucous
lining ; remove irritation , overcome
weakness , tone and strengthen the
nerves and muscles ] , and restore
the bowels and associate organs
to more vigorous and healthy
activity.
Kexall Orderlies completely re
lieve constipation , except when of
\
a surgical character. They also
tend to overcome the necessity of
constantly taking laxatives to keep
the bowels in normal condition.
There is really no medicine for
this purpose so good as Rexall
Orderlies , especially for children ,
aged and delicate persons. They
are prepared in tablet form , in
two sizes of packages : tablets
10 cents , and 30 tablets 25 cents.
