a VOTE FORB QUIBlE' '
I . All indications point to the elec- i
, : ' ! tion of E. B. Quible to the office I
e ' 1 ? of county treasurer by a sweeping
i majority. And the reason for his
increasing popularity and certain ,
' election is not hidden "under a
bushel. " People of understand-
ing and discernment accord every-
, 1 one the undisputed right to their
various beliefs and shades of be-
lief without seeking to detract in
. ' the ' least from their personal worth
in consequence thereof. But on
all affairs touching their general ,
.
realize that in electing Mr. Quible :
to the office of treasurer they will :
not only b'e choosing a strong ,
sensible , sober man of temperance
principles and habits , but a man
of equally poised individuality
who busies himself only with the
control , of his own conduct with-
out'unduly interfering with the
afl'airs of others.
MEN KNOW , that if elevated

This is especially true of baking - and it is just as true of baking powder. If
you use the cheap and Big Can Kinds you are getting quantity at the sacrifice of
quality. It cannot be as good - or as economical as Calumet-the medium price
kind. If you use the HiGh Price Kind , you are paying tribute to the Trust - the
quality is no titer.

Danger. _
Five years ago , by order of the
railroads and other special inter-
ests , the l Nebraska legislature took
away fron the people the right to
I elect their own precinct assessors.
This was done on the theory of the
railroad attorneys that the people ,
and especially the farmers could
not be trusted to elect local assess-
ors who would assess farm lands
as high as the railroads wanted
the lands assessed
Last year the people took the
bit in their teeth and elected legis-
lators who were pledged to give
back to the people the right' to
elect their own township assessors
and the legislature did give back
to the people that right.
I That good new law is in danger.
One of the big railroad attorneys
. announced last week , that soon
after the elg tion he would attack
I 1 the new law in the supreme . , court. .
What can the people do to check-
mate the move which the big rail-
road attorney says he will make
They can do much. if they want
to. That attorney will not attack
the new law unless he can attack
. if in a' 'friendly court. If the I
people will go to the polls next
Tuesday and elect supreme judges
who are in favor of killing the lo -
cal assessor law , then the attack
will be made by ; the railroad at
torney , and the law l will certainly I
be killed. If th'e people shall
elect next Tuesday some supreme
judges who are known to favor :
the principle of home rule in the
matter of making assessments ,
then this good new law ] will be
permitted to live , because the
railroad attqrneys. will not attack
the law if they know that two or
three members the court are
favorable to the law. The repub-
lican 'candidates for supreme judge
are friendly to the view of the
railroad attorneys who want to
kill the local assessor ' law. The
, democratic candidates for supreme
judge are known to be in sympa
thy with the law which gives the
people the right to elect their own
I
local assessors. Take your choice ,
voters. If you want to help kill
the law which permits you to
have a "voice in the election of
the men who will assess your
property , you know how to do it.
If you wantTEo have that good law ,
you also know how to do it.
Gov. Shallenberger created a
