A farmer complained this : week of
certain lands being . advertised l for

delinquent taxes , claiming the own-
er should have been notified. This
is a mistaken idea. The law re
quires the treasurer to notify the
owner of personal property but
not of real estate. The treasurer
shopld not be blamed for doing his
official duty without favoriteism.
Officials who do their duty
should meet with commendation
instead of criticism.

Kilgore Notes.
Julius Raber : has nearly com-
pleted a new seven room " house
with a large cement cellar.
Last Friday morning Al. Cole-
man's dogs killed a large bob cat
in his chicken yard. The cat
measured 42 inches from tip of
tail to nose. It was not bruised
much but one of the dogs received
a long gash on the leg and altho
the cat looks , very much alive at
this writing ; he will not trou-
ble any more chickens. Mr. and
Mrs. Coleman took the specimen
to Charles Raurer and had it
mounted. Mr. Rauer lives seven
miles south of Kilgore and does
good work with animals or birds. ,

Margaret Stetter gave a piano
solo ! at the Philomathean literary ]
society last Friday night.
Bessie Gaskill spent Saturday
and Sunday visiting relatives in
Nebraska City. She reports a fine
time.
The Peru Glee Club has been
requested to sing at the State Tea-
chers' Association at Lincoln ,
November 3 , 4 and 5. '

The chapel hour of October 18 ,

of the statue of Horace Mann to
the Peru Normal by the class of
