Cherry county , is a resident of section i . . . 32 , township 32 , range 26 , where his new residence is located. I come one of the important factors in Jos. P. Kreycik I the development of that region. lie is the owner of a I' s fine set of ranch buildings and is one of the leading old , : o - - settlers in the vicinity. - ' 1\ Mr. ' Kreycik is a native of Jestraby , Lhoto , Bohemia , I and was born on a farm , January 1 , 1866. His father , " . Matej Kreycik came to America in 1878 and located in , Knox county , Nebraska , where he now resides. The family sailed from Hamburg on the steamer Grelart , 1 April 5th , and after fourteen . days on the water landed ' in New York. Coining difeat to Yankton by way oi - Sioux City , a friend of the father met the family and . . , r , ' . - took them to his home , the father soon locating on a . r homestead where he now resides. Of a family of eighl . . children Joseph is the eldest and started out for himself at the age of twenty-one , following ranch work , and first ' . came to Cherry county in 1884 , where he took up a ! homestead and tree claim ; on the former he now resides. A'd iill two-story nine-room frame dwelling , with running wat er at all times , supplied from an elevated cistern reser- voir two big cattle sheds , two barns , a sheep shed and numerous outbuildings , wind mills , and tanks and , con- crete walks. Altogether it is one of thejjest equipped ranches within the boundaries of Cherry county. The land is all fenced , and the whole ranch bears evidence of the besj t ; of care and good judgment in its operation , ' making it one of the valuable estates in the locality. As the campaign progresses the friends of our can didates E. B. Quible , for treasurer ; Joseph P. Kreycik , for commissioner ; James C. Quigley , for county judge ; C. A. Rosseter , for sheriff , and J. W. McDaniel , for sur- veyor , feel more certain of success. The county has been pretty generally canvassed and all reports are more or less encouraging , and .why . should it not be so ? They are all good , clean , industrious citizens o'f Cherry county and have been chosen from the different sections of the county in a fair and equitable manner , as it is possible to do Mr. Quible from the western part Mr. : Kreycik comes from the eastern part , Mr. : Rosseter from the cen- tral portion southwest of Valentine , while Judge Quig- ley is a resident of this city and the only one among our candidates who is a resident here. Mr. : McDaniel lives to the south of Wood Lake , so taken altogether the dis tribution as to the territory embraced is as equitable as it is usually possible to make . it. Add to this the fact they are good , reliable men , each of whom ' \villlnake good and efficient officials if their candidacy is approved at the polls on the second day of November , as we feel assured will be the case. The people throughout the county will have formed a wrong impression if they allow themselves < < to be made to believe that Valentine desires to corner all the .county offices. ' r Every voter should go the polls and vote. Only one week from Tuesday i is election day. Some of you may live far from the polling place , but it is only for the one day in the year that you can go and have a voice in the selection of your state and county officers. It is a wise plan to select men with a view to their fitness for of- fice and the portion of the county they represent , so that all the county may be represented. It is not due any' person to have a life lease on an office nor to be con- tinually kept in office because of being raised up in an office. New blood in an . . office brings it in closer touch with the heart throbs of the people. It is highly com mended that changes be made occasionally for the good of the public. Every part of the county should be represented { as nearly as practicable. Our candidates have been selected according to their suitableness , both from efficiency and with a view to representing a portion of the county that deserves representation. It was not possible this year to select candidates . from all parts of the county that need representation but we have covered the ground well , as far as we could. Good government is always that closest to the peo- ple and the best politics is good men in office rep- resenting the people. We present to you for considera- tion good men who represent various parts of this big county. They are in each instance men like yourselves , who have been successful with their own affairs and are public spirited , high minded men who have the endorse- of their own communities and l with them Cherry county . will be creditably represented at home and abroad. - . . - , jnSTyi.A-pay When CURED , AH Rectal Diseases cured without a surgical j I e 5 cpsration. Stotfs' big horse and mule sale attracted people from all over / the country for miles around and before some ' men we never saw were here. The crowd at the stock yards was so thick that there wasn't room on the fences for them ' . all any many were on the ground following the auctioneer Jhom . . . . . pen to pen and found difficulty in keep- ing within bidding range of the dif ferent pens of horse and mules. Some men climbed upon the I : fence and stayed there though the ' selling was first i in one pen and f then in another , often too far away , possibly buyers , to see what was being sold. The stock sold fairly . well considering the disadvantages of continually moving a large l crowd. Yearling mules sold at $100 a head , 2 year olds at $250 a team. Horses did not sell so high though mostly sold fairly well. As . , is the case in a big sale there were f some bargains. v Mr. StottH , on the whole , feels I very well satisfied with the result.
