David Emerick of Kennedy . ' pre- ,
cieut , while in Valentine "after 'Sup
plies Tuesday of this week ma' t ' w'th
a serious accident tliat ' may cause
him the loss of an eye. He was
boxing in a friendly way with some
of the boys when his foot. slipped
causing him to lurch his head . for
ward and downward and to one side
thereby receivtng the full force of
a blow on the side of the eya that
was intended to catch him on the I
shoulder , the bout was eniirely im- .
promptu . and friendly and every
body is eorry that ii happened.

He earnestly spoke for encourag-

The first grade pupils have cut
and colored enough maple ] leaves
to fill eight long strings which ex-
tend from the center of the room
to the walls. These leaves make
a very pretty decoration for the
fall months.
Those from the sixth grade re
ceiving an average above ninety ,
thereby getting a holiday Friday
while the remainder of the grade I
were poring over the examinations
were : CherrieLeaneah , Leon Hill-
singer , Dwyer Hoxey , Helen
Hornby , Eldene Sparks , Donald
McLean , Irene Northrop and
Kathleen Yeast.
A rule was made in the high
school that-all students who were
not absent nor tardy and who had
made a daily grade of 90 per cent
would be exempt from all exam-
inations. The few who were ex-
empt from the examinations were
Helen Bachelor , Bertha Helzer ,
Minnie Adamson , Claude Lam-
ereaux and Spray Gardner. We
are in hopes there will be a larger
number at the close of the next
six weeks.
