q Eldest B. Quibie has been the ti ' easui : t.i ! ' of Cherry
county for a : short period only , but long enough to prove
t 1 , himself competent , if there had ever been any doubt up-
! on that point. He is a good accountant , a neat , clear

He is earnest and industrious in applying himself to the
affairs of his office , as lie has always been in the dis

! \ Having occupied his present position just long
enough to prove his i ability and capacity for the : kind of
work the office of county treasurer requires , it would be

were the facts , 1 he , would have been receiving just com-

E. B. Quible , Candidate for County Treasurer & !
pensation for services rendered , and no obligation could
be built upon that score to be made to serve as a lame
.
excuse why further favors should be granted , for Mr. :
Quibie and his friends recognize the fact that Cherry
county expects its laborers to be , and to have been ,
worthy of their hire , and pays each of them , from the
highest to the smallest position , that hire promptly , and
when they cease to serve the county officially there is no
obligations pending on either side.
We believe that the voters of this county , as else
. . where , want firm , capable , sober men to transact their
business for > them , and , if this be true , they had better
give this matter some serious consideration and set aside
ill their minds some fundamental propositions'with the
\ purpose of acting upon them on election day. A vote
for E. B. Quibie will be no mistake. I

Joseph P. Kreycik H - -
Joseph P. Kreycik , the democratic candidate for
commissioner from the First district , had important :
business in Omaha this week , but on his return . expects
to take a trip through the county and visit old friends
and form the acquaintance of as many new ones as it will
be possible for him to l11eet.1T \ e unhesitatingly class
his new made acquaintances as his friends , for no man
can meet this strong yet pleasant and agreeable man ,
without being favorably impressed with him and his fit- .
ness to fill the office to which he aspires , for he has a
' personality that diffuses a pleasantry , sunshine and good-
- l fellowship among those whom he meets , that is at once
1
agreeable and satisfactory. If , by any chance , he should
be unable to call upon you bef ore the campaign closes
dp not forget him at the polls.

; We ask the voters of this county in all seriousness ,
! i I have not all the candidates that were elected , and for
" whom we vouched for at the last general election and
the preceding one , given perfect satisfactionTe
think the verdict is unanimous that they have , and for
this fact ve , with other citizens , are thankful that Cher-
ry county has a goodly set of officials , and we can assure I
the r voters that the candidates for whom . our voice is
raised in this campaign will prove themselves , "elected ,

Judge B. F. Good of Wahoo ,
who is a candidate on the demo-
cratic ticket , is one of the public
servants of the people who has
from the beginning , refused to
accept a pass. No man in the
state has a cleaner record as a cit
izen or as an official. No abler.
cleaner man for judge of the last
resort in this state can anywhere
be found. During the last month
we have talked with several mem
bers of the bar who know Judge
Good , and though some of those
to whom we have talked are of op
posing I political faith , all without
exception , speak of him in highest
terms of praise , and agree that he
is a model candidate for judge of
the supreme court. - Arapahoe Pi
oneer.
- -
Judges J. J. Sullivan and B. Fl :
Good have filed for judges of the
supreme court. The former is
well known to nearly every read-
er of this paper , having served on
the supreme bench for six years
with great ability and honor. He
is one of the greatest legal minds
in the west , and all attorneys get
justice before him. Judge Good
has great experience as a lawyer ,
and has served nearly ten years as
judge of the district court , and
was endorsed as one of the two
democrats endorsed by the State
Bar association for appointment
by Governor Sheldon to the new
position on thexbench created last
fall. If the entire supreme court
was made up of such eminent jur
ists , decisions would be rendered
irrespective of a client or his at
torney's politic ? . - Plattsmouth
Journal.
Jas. H. Day , a Wood Lake mer-
chant had business in our city yes
terday and made our office a visit.
J. B. Sones was in town Mon '
day from the west end of the
county. He tells us that a young
man by the name of Grant War
ren who in partnership with his
father , lately \ from Mass had a
bunch of Mr. Sones' stock on the
shares , has skipped the country to l
evade numerous obligations. On i
the records in Valentine were
found 17 mortgages against him
aggregating near § 3000 , much of
which imaginary stock or stock
never owned by Warren. When
pressed for a settlement he took a ,
grey mare belonging to Mr. Sones i
branded lazy JF on left l shoulder , I
black mare that was mortgaged ,
and left the country in a spri il , g
wagon with low down tongue ,
concord breeching harness new I
last spring. Mares weighed liOO I
and 1300 Ibs. respectively. Sher
iff Rosseter has a warrant for his
arrest and there are several Gor-
donites on the look out for him.

FOR.T MITH WAGONS A l _ , .
I
What John Deere Plow Co. , the , .
. ; manufacturers , say about them (
Why do we build these wagons at Fort Smith Ark ? A .
@ ; rigid adherence to the principles of business economy demands
CD
that in so far as may be possible the manufacture of any article
should be conducted adjacent to the supply of raw material and
. . at the same time convenient to the market which is expected to
absorb the finished product. The timber resources of this sec-
tion are something wonderful. The fertile soil here produces an
abundance of all kinds of hard woods of the finest quality , chief
among which will be found several varieties of oak , ash , hick-
IC\ ory and pine so valuable to the manufacturer of good wagons.
Not more than twenty-five { or thirty per cent of this timber has _
been cut. Great virgin forests are still standing. 1
. Now the place to get the pick of good timber is where it
rows. . The ideal way to build a wagon is to go into the heart
of the hard wood forest , select prime material , season it , and

Materials and Construction
.
For axles , doubletrees , singletrees and neckyokes we use
clear hickory. Bolsters , hounds , poles and reaches are of
clear white oak. Our wheels are made with white oak hubs
and felloes , and strictly second growth white oak spokes. The
tires are of steel , and are set by hydraulic pressure while hot. &
All wheels are boiled in linseed oil before the tires are set. _ _
Our skeins are made over our own patterns , and are
strong and heavy. They all measure one-eighth of an very inch
greater in diameter than listed size. Our boxes are of poplar
with Georgia pine bottoms. We use seven-sixteenths inch end
rods with self-centering round nuts and washers. Nuts and
washers are put I on with screws. Our
wagons are well ironed
