Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Lyman The democratic convention held last Saturday elected W. E. Haley and Frank Fischer , jr. , chairman and secretary , respectively for the ensuing year. O. W. Hahn , W. E. Haley , I. M. : Kice were elected delegates to the state conv nt l1n. It was moved and carried that the chairman and secretary and the candidates for office select the i precinct committee. . Last week C. IT. Cornell and S. Moon \ were out on north table in the former's automobile and on the way into town ran over a wolf near Harmony" store. They told C. W. Cramer of their suspicions that evening but it was near dark. The next morning , early , Mr. Cramer was out that way with a load of carpenters for the agency and aw the wolf laying dead in the road. Lawrence Lyman , second son of Roadmaster Lyman of the C. & N. W. , went down to Lake Minne- chaduza , in company with three . . companions , Sunday and went hf. swimming. Upon coming out of the water he fell over in a faint from exhaustion and did not re- cover. He had been in unusual good health of late and was feel- ing fine Sunday morning. Last winter he had a severe spell of heart trouble and lay at the point of death , apparently , for several weeks and had been more or less troubled with his heart for several years. Though not unexpected , it is a severe shock to his parents and brother and our townspeople all express sincere sympathy for the bereaved ones. Lawrence was born Oct. 17 , 1888 , in \VheeIer , Wisconsin. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Baker at 2:30 : Tuesday afternoon at the home and the remains laid to rest in Mt. Hope cemetery. Gilbert A. Shaw , an old settler of Cherry county , died at the Stinard hotel Monday afternoon of general debility and cholera morbus. He had been living alone on his farm nine miles north of town for a number of years : and the past year has been growing feebler and weaker. He hadn't been able to do much work for some years and his crop was al- ways short and he had a very meagre living. About the middle of last week he was discovered in his home sick and unconscious and it is supposed he had lain there for four days without food or drink , as he hadn't been seen by the neighbors during that time. He was brought to town , and cared for but he was irrational and im- agiued [ that he had been taken' from home to steal what he had and tried to get away. An effort is being made to locate his rela- tivps. G He was about 74 years : old and had been an accomplished violinist and was an educated man. He was queer in his \vars. but a good citizen and bore a good repu tation. His funeral was held yes terday. ] Notice. * To Ioroy Pin neo , non-resident defoiulnnt : You sire lu re by notified that on the 17th lay of July , IYF : : + .
