Mrs. F. M. Walcott went down
to Lincoln Sunday morning to
spend several weeks visiting rela-

Elmore , the oldest son of C. H.
Cornell , threw a stone through
one of the plate glass windows of

The Methodist church grounds
are being enclosed this week with
a strong fence. Grass and tree
will be planted which will make
the building more attractive.
Oliver Walcott received word
last "Monday that he could have a
position in the government build-
ing at the Seattle fair , and left im
mediately to accept the same.

Hon. P. F. Simons , mayor of
Sparks , Nebr. , was in town the
first of the week on business.
While here he found time to visit
around with his many friends.
Civil Engineer Parmalee came
up from Lincoln Sunday night ,
accompanied by his wife who will
spend several l weeks here. He al-
, ( , brought up four university stu
dents who. will assist him , in mak-
ing the survey for the proposed
electric road.
James H. Quigley and John
Bachelor went down to Hooper
Friday night to attend the funeral
of George Heine , which was held
Saturday morning. Mr. Hine
died the middle of last week "from
cancer of the throat , from which
"
he suffered for several years. He
was well known inCherry county ,
having for years maintained heavy
stosk interests here. This com-
munity mourns his loss for he was
'ever , while associated with us , an
upright and honest citizen.

L. O'Connor ' were married last

Father Blaene of the Catholic

was quiet , and only in the pres-
ence of a few intimate ; friends.

Omaha Friday night , where he
had been attending the Grand Ma
sonic lodge. While there he call- :
ed on Pete DeCorey at the Metha- I
dist hospital and found him feeling
much improved. The operation .
proved successful and he will be
'home in a short time.
Will Shepard returned Tuesday
night from Omaha where he has
been confined in a hospital for al-
most seven months. While far
from : being entirely well , he is
much improved and is able to move !
about with the aid of crutches . :
A crowd of friends met the train
to welcome him home.
The county commissioners are
in session this week acting as a
board of equalization. : As soon as
the assessor's books are adjusted
they begin sitting in their regular ,
capacity. James Mone came down I
