You : and everybody else , wants to see what's in THE DEMOCRAT this week , just as bad as you did before- the war , but the Avar is over and the country is safe. The government at Washington still stands and THE DEMO CRAT tells the news. You want it. Why not be a man and come in and subscribe , in stead of botherin' the life out of your neighbors , a bor- ryin' their DEMOCRAT. Some of you do it right along and always seem to know just what THE DEMOCRAT said this week and last week. But you wouldn't sub scribe ? No ? Why ? You must be something of a hypocrite to pretend you don't read it , or wouldn't read it , and then slip 'round and raise the curtain and peep in just to see what's goin' on , I s'pose , like a boy at a circus , that was told not to go. Yes , that's the way you do , and you'd be mighty lonesome if you did not read the home paper , would't ye ? It doesn't hurt our feel- in's half as much as Mrs. Hornby thinks it does to sever relations with one ye know is f elin' kind o'bad towards ye. In fact , it is a relief that the strained cord is broken and that it's time to stretch another one that is based upon business prin ciples and a desire to carry your own part of this load of mutual advantageous co operation. It is the people who step cheerfully to the front and meet others at the business center who are iQoked upon as the foremost citizens of a Wear The warm days of spring oughtto make you think of cooler wearing apparel. Watch our Window town. There's something wrong when you've got to coax men to their xplaces and we're noli built the coaxin' way , but we're ready to do business for anybody that's got the dough. Tim Higgins was in town the first of the week and seeing him reminds us of a story he used to tell. It- was in the early days of Valentine and Tim was run ning a saloon. Pie hadn't rosmsfco run his gamblin g tables and he hadn't the money to build , so he goes to see Greorge Hornby about it. George had lumber and was ready for a deal on a building. Tim laid his proposition before him and told him that he had to have the building but was short of money to build it and tiat G-eorge would have to wait until he could make it out of his gambling business. The building was built and George furnished the lum ber , so the story goes , and waited for his money 'till Tim could make it. Whereas , It has pleased Our Heavenly Father , in His infinite wisdom , to remove from our midst Harry Phelps , adopted son of Neighbor J. E. Phelps and wife , and by his death Neighbor Phelps and wife loses a loving and af fectionate son , be it therefore EESOLVED ; TnatWoodlake Camp No. 292T , M. W.
