disorders , I am able to testify to its
great remedial excellence arid do not

Mr. T. Barnecott , West Ayhner ,

months , when I became quite well. I also
induced a young lady , who was all run

Pe-ru-na Tablets.
Some people prefer to take tablets ,
rather than to take medicine in a fluid
form. Such people can obtain Peruna
tablets , which represent the solid me-
diqjnal ingredients of Peruna. Each
tablet is equivalent to one average dose
of Peruna.

"The silver coins in circulation in

FAIR IS A FATLTJEE.
Jamestown Bxposi'ticn Has Proved
an Abject "Fizzle.
According to si Washington corre-
rspordeut , tliu Jamestown exposition has
proved un abjecr fuKure. It is hope
lessly bankrupt. The government is to
lose the million dollars it loaned , and
a lobby is preparing to invade Wash
ington to try to saddle the public treas
ury with the other $2,000,000 of the
exposition's debt.
The total liabilities of the exposition ,
according to ofiicial figures , will reach
the sum of $3,4(55,000. The total assets
are $710,000. Therefore the exposition
is bankrupt to the tune of $2,855,000.
Second mortgage bonds will be duo
next month for $070,000. There are
first mortgage bonds due next year for
$400.000 , and the exposition owes the
United States government up to date
$ SSSCOO. The assets or the exposition
consist of the permanent improvements
to the real estate , estimated at $000-
000. Fixtures and furniture $10,000
and unpaid stock subscriptions $100 , .
OCO. The exposition lias cost over
$500OCO. ( ! The buildings put up by
the exposition company cost $1,75'J.OHO.
Those erected by the States $1,500,000 , j
and those by concessionaires $1.000OUO.
The government and exhibitors each
have spent about $ -100,000. The total
gate receipts to date have been about ;
$508,000. The daily expenses have bcon
$ -1.000. The expenses nave from the
beginning been greater than the re
ceipts.
Perhaps the most potent reason for
the exposition's failure is found in thQ ]
purpose of a party of the original promoters -
motors to engineer a clevpr real estate I
peculation. It w-.s figured that the" "
exposition was to bring improvement
to the barren waste of land which was
'chosen for the site , and the promoters
were to profit by this unearned iucre- '
inent by becoming owners of this land ,
This iniluenced the choice of the exi
position's site , and the most important
reason for its failure was the inacces
sibility of this site. To reach the place
a boat trip from Washington of twelve
hours was required , and there never
has been a time when there were
enough boats to handle the traffic com-
fortably. In addition to which there
were no facilities at the exposition for j
covering the ground , and the , visitor i
was subjected from the beginning to
all manner of petty imposition and dis-
comfort. j
A determined wCort will be made in
Congress to foil the efforts of the lobby
to try to make the government "a goat"
for this losing speculation.
Hold Home of tbc Wealthy.
Already more than one-half of the SCK1
living rooms in the new Plaza Ilotel ,
which w.is recently completed at the cor
ner of Fifty-ninth street and Fifth ave
nue. New York City , at the cost of $12-
500.000 , have been taken in the form of
suites as permanent homes for million
aires under yearly contracts. The rent
als of these tenants vary from $15,000 to
$30,000 a year. The suites include par
lor , dining room , library and varying *
number of bedrooms all opening upon a
private hall , which in turn connects with
a public hotel corridor. This insures
privacy and a souse of family unity to
each set of rooms. Warming and refrig
erating apparatus in the private pantry ia
connected by chutes ami tubes with the
general kitchen in the basement , so as to :
give a dining service the advantage of a
perfectly equipped hotel plant , but in
the privacy of an individual home. Names
prominent among those who have taken
suites here are the Goulds , Gates and
Vandcrbilts. Single rooms may be rent
ed for $4 a day , and double rooms , with
bath , for $ G a day. The hotel -will be fully
occupied when it houses 600 people , be
cause so many rooms are used as parlors
mid dining rooms.
Compensation for Motherhood.
Women of all sorts and conditions afc
tended the recent National Union ol
Women Workers at London , England , to
discuss plans for their betterment , and
to protest against wage discrimination on
account of sex. It was decided that the
trades unions could not help the unskill
ed women workers , because it is too ex
pensive to maintain such organizations , '
It was agreed that nothing couldbe ex
pected from the individual employer , and
that State intervention was their only
salvation. Some of the leading spirits
urged that working women should avoid
marriage until after the age of 25 at
least , thereby lessening the size of fam-J
iiies and allowing time for more complete - i
plete equipment for the duties of wifehood - j
hood and motherhood. One speaker was
greeted with enthusiasm when she urged
a definite plan for the payment of moth
erhood , which , she said , was the only
form of industry now unpaid.
Hart Cancer Cnre Demonstrated.
A public demonstration of the new "ful-
guration" treatment for cancer has been
made at Paris by Dr. Hart , in the pres
ence of thirty prominent surgeons of all
nations. Dr. Hart , whose home is at
Marseilles , lias used the treatment for
eighteen months , and in 65 per cent of
the cases the patients remain cured. By
means of Gaiffe's electric transformer ha
sends through an insulated probe an elec
tric spark 5 inches long. This is applied
with a fulgurating or flashing effect on
the cancerous growth , thus destroying all
the diseased tissues. Then the spark ia
used in lieu of a knife to volatize tha
affected part. The wound is washed ia
water and antiseptic.

all your remedies arc doing noble work ,
but your Liniment beats all. In my
eight years' experience with medicine
I find none to go ahead of it , having
tried it in very many cases. I know
of one young man , a brick mason , who
suffered from a partial , yes , almost
complete , paralysis of one arm. I got
him to use your Liniment , and now he

City a series of milk booths where
pure sterilized milk is sold to the poor
for one cent a bottle. Absolute anti-

cleansing the milk bottles he uses two

There is NOTHING TOO
GOOD for the American
people' that's why we started
to make Cascarets Candy
Cathartic. The first box made
For the its appearance in 1896 , and the
enthusiastic endorsement oj
the people has been bestowed
upon Cascarets ever since.
The sale today is at tfiQ '
rate of OVER A MILLION
BOXES A MONTH , proving that the American people recog
nize , that what is BEST FOR THEM is none too good.
Why this enormous patronage ?
The ansv/er is simple : Cascarets are pure , clean , sweet ,
mild , fragrs nc , harmless but effective little tablets for the treat
ment and cure of Constipation and all Bowel Troubles. They
are put up in r tat little enamel boxes , easy to buy , easy to
carry ( in vest-pocket or purse ) , easy to take and easy of actiom
always reliable , always the same , they "work while you sleep
and wake you up feeling fine in the morning.
They not only regulate tne movement and stimulate the muscular walls of
the bowels , but they keep the ENTIRE CANAL CLEAN and antiseptic , forcing
out and destroying all disease germs that breed in the accuuiulatsd filth unless
promptly and regularly discharged. Therefore , they are c. gient preventive oJ
disease , and may be taken continuously as a precautionary measure.
The new Pure Drugs Act , adopted by Congress en June 30 , 1906 , and in
cEect January'l , 1907 , is a GOOD LAW and means better and PURER
drugs for the American People. We endorse it arid will live up to it in
SPIRIT and LETTER , an easy task , as we have always been. actuated
by the same principles and no changes are required in our formula or pack *
age. ,
We adopted OUR OWN PURE DRUG LAW in 1896 whsn the firsS
box of Cascarets came on the market and have lived and worked and pro *
duced under it ever since.
To-dayafter a record of nearly 100,000,000 boxes sold , Cascarets STAND
the greater in PURITY , QUALITY and MEDICINAL MERIT than any
other preparation for Bowel trouble in all the world.
This should be a great argument for any one , to try Cascarets AT
ONCE , and be healthier and happier for it. Some people have CHRONIC
CONSTIPATION with all the horrors derived from it ; others have HAB
ITUAL CONSTIPATION from carelessness and neglect , but nearly
EVERYBODY has OCCASIONAL CONSTIPATION , which , if not
promptly taken care of is liable to result in its degeneration into the worse
forms and cause great suffering and perhaps death. \
Cascarets , if taken patiently and regularly , will remedy all of these
awful troubles , but if taken promptly at the very first sign of ail irregular
ity of the Bowels , wiH act as the FINEST PREVENTIVE ever discovered
and will keep all the machinery running in good order. 755
_ We advise you to get a little lOc box of Cascarets TO-DAY and carry
it in your purse or vest pocket. Take one when you feel anything unusuaj
about your bowels. Your own druggist will sell you the little box , under
GUARANTY of satisfaction or money refunded. All druggists , lOc , 25c , 5Qc.
It is estimated that 5 per cent , or
about $85,000,000 , of the annual income
from American railroads goes to foreign
investors.
