Our friends and readers will be surprised and grieved to learn of the death of William Henry Wil kinson , who died at his home near Kennedy last Friday morning1 , March , 1 , 1907 , of pneumonia. He had contracted a cold several weeks before , but thought he was getting better and went out among his music class before he was fully recovered , and another cold re sulted in his "final' sickness a'ntf death. The family realized that he was growing worse during his last illness and against his protests finally telephoned for a doctor , and on Thui\scl-iy night he was helped from his chair to the bed and grew steadily worse until morning when he passed away. The funeral was held at the home Sunday , conducted by the Rev. J. Robert Beale of the Pres byterian church of Valentine , in the midst of neighbors and friends who came rnanj7 miles to take a farewell look at their esteemed friend and worthy neighbor , among whom we might mention Grandpa and Grandma "Walling- ford , who formerly lived near Kennedy ; Horace G. Wallingford and family , Dan Barnes and daugh ter Miss May , Enoch Barnes and family , Dan Adamson , Wm. Shel- bourn and many others for miles around. Those country funerals where neighbors good and true , congregate en masse to bid adieu to one departed , make death an easier thing and comforts those who are bowed down in grief and ser row. row.Mr. Mr. Wilkinson was born in Oswego , N. Y. , Nov. S , 1837. In youth he moved with his parents to Rio , Wis. , where he was mar ried to Miss Carrie Hite of Illi nois in 1868. Two years later they removed first to Iowa and then to Lyons , Neb. About 17 years ago they settled on the ranch at Kennedy. Three daughters , a son and his faithful wife survive the deceased : Mrs. May Kaulitz of Goodland , Kan. , Mrs. Amy Wells of Pilger , Nebr. , Mrs. Frank Kime near Kennedy , and Ernest , the son , who has but recently taken a home stead adjoining the home place. In the death of Mr. Wilkinson the family loses a faithful husband and indulgent father and the neigh borhood a genial and hospitable neighbor. Many will remember him as an earnest , enthusiastic musician. For many years he has visited among the settlers giving lessons on the violin , mandolin , guitar , cornet , organ and piano.
