Arthur Sherman and wife en tertained a number of their friends at their home , two miles west of town , Saturday evening. Mrs. Clias. Sherman is suffering from a painful thumb as a result of running a sliver into it while making Chistmas decorations from cedar twigs. , > t 'O. Phillis of Ohio -is in our city and has been looking over the county with a view of locating. His family , who are driving through , are expected here in the early spring. X The two. plays presented by the Shakespeare Club last Friday evening at the home of J. J. Mc Lean were well rendered and were j greatly appreciated by those pres ent. Refreshments were served. Milt Latta showed us a letter a few days ago where he was asked to figure on wells for the C. & N. W. at Johnstown and Hay Springs : He has recently completed a well at Arabia and one at Ft. Niobrara for the government. Mrs. Mabel MerribS of Iowa Falls is visiting with her , father and mother , Mr. and Mrs. O. W. ' t . Hahn , north of town. This is her first visit home since she was hurt about a year ago in being thrown from a wagon and is looking well. Fischer's orchestra went down to Longpine.to.furnish , the music for the dance New Year's eve. The orchestra was entertained by the Wornans Improvement Club New Year's Day at the home of Mrs. G.-A. ; Smith. . Morrissey of Valentine was there as - the only representative frpp . .Cherry county. Judge Westover and Jerry D. Scott -of Rushville , Geo. A. Miles , M. F. Harrington , J. B. Scott , who is Judge Harrington's court report er , were there. We also saw Messrs. Thompson and Myers of Newport in Omaha , who were there in the interest of Rock Co. citizens talking over , the new line of , railroad which is to be built be tween Albion and , Newport. Shields of Dayton , Wyo. , were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents , Friday , Dec. 28 , 1906 , Rev. E. W. Perrig of 3t. Francis Mission performing the ceremony. The members of she family and a few intimate friends only witnessed the cere- . " ' \ ' " mony. The bride and groom left on the evening train for Hot Springs , S. D. , for a short wedding tour , after ivhich Mr. Shields goes to Dayton , Wyo. , where he takes charge of a Dank , the first of the year , for his jrandfathei , Dr..B. F. Kuney. Miss Marie is the ) nly daughter of Mr , and Mrs. Jordan and has a host of friends n this part of Cherry .county and recently graduated from the Fre- nont normal college , .where 'she jecanie acquainted with Mr. shields , ' who was for the past two rears assistant cashier of the First National Bank of Fremont.
